This year is my second year of flower farming, what does that mean? Well, I grow many stems of beautiful flowers for bouquets and sell them at Farmer's Markets and other events.

Totally Trendy Tote - First Christmas Present Completed
My girls are blessed to have a wonderful couple in their lives, not related but we always say they are like another set of grandparents. Each Christmas we get together for a meal and exchange gifts. The woman is a quilting friend and she makes so many quilts and quilted items. It is unbelievable how productive she is.

Each month we have a sewing night at the local quilt storeand I decided to make my friend a big bag. I thought the bag could be filled with "extra" sewing items. Each sewing night instead of packing a bag she could just grab this bag and head out for sewing.

Charm Pack Bag - Tutorial
Here it is a tutorial for the Charm Pack Bag
This is a bag I started with a basic design and then developed along the way. My first one was 2007 and has gone from there.
Here is the one that started it all

I am updating this tutorial just a bit. Mainly adding some pictures of the other bags and variations I have made from this basic bag.

Math Teacher Bag
I have made this charm pack several times, which I saw somewhere online but knew I could make something similar.
Daughter #2, the secondary math teacher, needed a new bag to tote her books, papers and laptop to school. When I saw Sweetwater's new line - Elementary I knew that was perfect for a secondary Math teacher. Just take a look
I will get an official tutorial for this bag but it takes one charm pack and the outside is 5 squares in a row by 7 rows. I was in a bit of a hurry to get daughter #2 her bag so this picture is blurry
The lining and handle takes one yard of fabric,
For the inside, I use 6 squares for the pocket. You can see it is folded in half on the second row to make the pocket.
This leaves only one block leftover from the 42 square charm pack. I like when I that happens!
A complete tutorial will happen sometime in October, I have another charm pack of this fabric and I have dd#4 going for a secondary math degree.

The ties on the side help pull the bag in and give it structure. I made these 3" wide by 18" long.

Rockstar Bag - Sew Sweetness
I have my name on Sara's pattern tester list and I responded to an email to test the Rockstar Bag and on August 12th Sara notified me I was one of the pattern testers.

I went right to work on this fabulous bag, first fabric shopping then sewing time.

A Bag Giveaway
No not the one from the Super Online Sewing Match, I am keeping that one!
It is a sample I made for my local quilt shop
(aka Lily's Mom) and the pattern is something I just made.
It isn't a big bag, think a school notebook would fit perfectly. The rick rack is another pocket, divided in half.
There is a pocket in the inside also divided in half. The closure is a magnetic snap.
If you would like a chance to win this bag, leave a comment and like my Facebook page. It is the little icon right below with the "f". You can also follow me on Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram - all the buttons below.
I will draw for the winner next Friday, I need some cheer, the twins go to college next week! I think I might be a little sad

Best of 2012–Quilts, bags and more
You might be sick of these “Best Of” posts but I need to do one more with the quilting type projects. A selfish reason really, I like looking back and reminiscing.
1. Chris and Erin's quilt
2. Pillow for a swap – I designed the layout and just love how the colors and pattern turned out. It was hard to part with this one.

3. String Quilt – love this after it was completed, it took for-e-ver to make

4. My all time favorite large bag Amy Butler's Weekender Bag – made it twice this year

5. The Alice Book bag – Easy purse to sew, put very popular with the 16 to 20-somethings I know. It is quick and easy – here is pictures of 5 of the 7 I have made

6. Kimi Rose Purse – talk about visual effect. My girls use this almost everyday, it can pack some stuff!

7. Red and aqua quilt for Kaitlyn – it just screams “fun”

8. Sunspot quilt – I love the white background setting off the bright colors even more.

9. Christmas quilt – like it but most importantly it is DONE!

10,Evelyn Bag – the most detailed oriented bag I have made. It does make it look so RTW.

Then I finish off the list with two bags from my own pattern line
11. Rose -A Messenger bag

12. Daisy- my second pattern

So that is it, my three “Best of” posts, now I better head to my sewing room and start working on the 2013 projects!
