Vogue 1923

This beautiful top took awhile to finish, I was short on fabric and thank goodness it was still in stock so I could order more

The pattern is Vogue 1923 which is a body suit but I ended up cutting that off.  I added an inch to the body length and with this addition the bodysuit was long and not just by that extra inch it was like 3 inches too long.  So I cut it off at the upper leg openings.  It is a bit short but with high waisted jeans it is just fine.

The fabric is a Heavy Modal Rib from Lyrical Fabrics in Matcha Lacha and it is green in appearance.  The fabric might be a bit too heavy for the drape or it could be I cut a 16 considering the finished measurements.  I am usually a 12 or 14 in these patterns.  The drape doesn't pull tight enough at the shoulders to be in place.  I used a tape to keep the shoulders in place, they just kept falling way down my arms.

The fabric is wonderful, the top is fun and interesting to sew and I love how it turned out.  Quite a different look for me but we have a convention in Florida next month and there is always a fun casual evening and I thought this would be perfect for the event.  I might try to find a pair of white jeans.

Vogue 1643 - Cardigan Side

In September I was the Takeover Host of Sew Your View and had the best time.  I had high hopes of making two of Vogue 1643 and had all the fabric purchased for two.  Well, the best laid plans....and I did just get one done.  Fast forward to June and I finished the second one.

Vogue 1635

What is a sleeper pattern?  Well to me it is a pattern that at first gets overlooked and then another sewists points it out and you think oh I have to have that!

Vogue 1387 - Mustard Challis

I loved this mustard floral challis from the moment I saw it on Inside the Hem's Style Maker Fall swatch video.  The background colors, the fall colors of the florals with the touch of burgundy-pink-wine just had me

Vogue 1323 - Rose Gold Metallic Velvet

Vogue 1323 from Mood Fabrics' velvet

I wanted to try my hand at velvet again, in fact another velvet shirt.  I knew if I sewed quickly I could get this velvet top finished for New Year's Eve.  I did get it done and wore it to ring in 2019

It is my most favorite time of the year, Fall Ya'll!  Not the season but it is time for
Which in the blog tour world, is my favorite time, right with Style Maker Fabrics' Spring Tour.

I was so thrilled Michelle asked me to be a part of the tour again, this marks my fourth tour with Style Maker Fabrics and I love everything about it.  Michelle does such an excellent job not only finding the best fabrics but coordinating all of us with fabric, blog details and fabric (yes, have to mention the fabric twice!)

Vogue 9260 - Jumpsuit Turned Top

Vogue 9260 jumpsuit made into a top only

Sometimes things don't turn out like the picture in your head.  This top that was a jumpsuit is just that type of picture.

I bought Vogue 9260 with the intention of making myself a fun jumpsuit.  My main problem is making a size too big, I went with a Medium and should of done a small.

Vogue 1522- Mood Fabrics' Eyelet

Vogue 1522 from Mood Fabrics' cotton eyelet

When ordering fabric at Mood Fabrics, sometimes it takes me a long time to decide, just too many options and decisions.  Then there are other times, the fabric is just perfect and I cannot get it into my cart soon enough.  That is the case with this Mood Fabrics’ Nanette Lepore Cotton Embroidered Eyelet, it was so gorgeous on the computer screen and even more beautiful in person.

Vogue 1439 - White Blazer

Vogue 1439 made from Style Maker Fabrics' white twill

I have sang my praises for summertime before on the blog but I am going to do it again.  Flowers, being outside, vacations, swimming, and white garments are a few of the things I love about summer.  One thing about white, it goes with anything and many times dresses up a garment, right?
Well, vacations, too, and I have two this summer - woo hoo!

Vogue 8926 Linen Jacket and Renfrew Top

Linen and warmer temperatures just go together, right?  When I spotted this Rag and Bone Linen on Mood Fabrics site, I knew I had to have it.  The fabric is sold by the panel and I ordered 2 panels which was just enough to squeeze out this jacket.     Now what to make with this fabulous linen?  I found some ideas on Pinterest, mainly unstructured tops with some fun play on the stripes.  That seemed like a good idea to start but I wasn't quite sure.  Next step was to look through my patterns and I found  Vogue 8926 and knew I had found a winner.

Vogue 9151- Mood Fabrics Rayon

Vogue 9151 tunic with Mood Fabrics' Rayon print mix

Isn't it fun when a fabric just draws you in?  That is exactly what happened with Mood Fabrics' Indigo Peacock-Inspired Rayon Woven.  I knew I needed to make something from this fabric and a tunic was the garment I started to envision.  I went with Vogue 9151 and started looking for an good coordinating fabric.  Mixing prints is so much fun, I searched Mood Fabrics for a good match.  Sometimes online it is hard to get a good color  match for fabric as colors look different on the computer screen versus in real life!

Vogue 1467 - Italian Wool Coating

Vogue 1467 Pea Coat in Mood Fabrics' Italian wool coating

What makes a great coat?  Well, I think many things but the first is great fabric and Mood Fabrics' Italian Navy Wool Blended Coating is great fabric.  This fabric is luscious yardage that sews beautifully and worked its way into a gorgeous pea coat, Vogue 1467.  I knew when this pattern was released I wanted to make this coat in a deep, dark navy and this Italian Coating was perfect for the project.  The fabric is wool, nylon and cashmere, which is wonderful to the touch but also has loft and warmth.

Vogue 1467 Progress

My Vogue 1467 is complete!  Woo Hoo
I participated in the Vogue 1467 sew along hosted by Meg at McCall's and
Rachel at House of Pinheiro.  These two blogs provided such wonderful information to help construct this coat and I printed off every post for the sewalong.  Running currently with this sewalong, Erica hosted the Amazing  Sewalong with valuable information on tailoring.  One more sewalong/tutorial that started just a couple of weeks ago and I used so much information.    This sew along is from Gail at Today's Agenda and I found it invaluable.  The posts were concise, well-written, full of photographs, too.  The format made it so helpful to construct this winter jacket with concise tailoring instructions.  Take a look at Gail's blog, you will find it beyond helpful
