Friday Fashion Inspiration - 18

I think of Maxi dresses and I think spring/summer and fun.  Those of us who lives in certain parts of the Northern Hemisphere need summer fun thoughts for all this cold and snow.  So let's put our thoughts toward that.

Maxi Dresses are still really on the radar

Burda 6848 Top

This is a Burda pattern, one of the young styles and at one of the Joann's Burda sales I picket it up.  This pattern and this fabric also from Joann's.

One thing for sure this young style is not suitable for this Nana/Mom!

Simplicity 1499 - Famous RTW Vest Inspired

Do you ever see something in RTW and know you can make it?  I do that quite a bit but there is times there is a but and with Simplicity 1499 there was a big but!  Fabric...... sometimes it is all about the fabric and finding the right fabric.  I  wanted to make this vest all year, after all I featured it on a  Fashion Friday Inspiration.

Enter some fabric shopping online while television watching and I found this wonderful quilted fabric from Emma One Sock.  I could not hit the order button fast enough, what if someone or several someones had the same idea as me?  This fabric had to come to my house!

Friday Fashion Inspiration - 17

Ready for another week?  I am thinking dresses again, they seem to be a good transition piece from season to season.  Add a cardigan or jacket with boots and seem more winter.  Drop the layers and add a fun shoe, then you get a spring vibe.
Let's start with this wrap maxi from Diane von Furstenberg via Neiman Marcus
I have featured a wrap dress before but the maxi length really changes up the look, don't you think?
Here is a great one - Butterick 5847 - but hurry it is on clearance

Quilts for Boys

You know how I like to make baby quilts, right?  Well, my baby girl quilts are plentiful while the baby boy quilts were non-existent.  I had to fix this problem and quickly.  One of Erin's good friends was having a boy and I needed to get a quilt completed for her.  Instead of making just one, I made two quilts.  One to give to Baby A and one quilt to have for the next little guy.
Here is the one that went to Baby A at the end of January.  I found the pattern doing a search on Pinterest but guess who didn't pin the pattern.  Yep, me and now I cannot find the exact pattern.

McCall's 6844 in Chevron Sweater Knit

Over the weekend, my husband had a business trip to Napa, California and I tagged along.
The days were warm but the evenings cool so I went with layers.  One of those layers was a new McCall's 6844, which I have made before in a red ponte

which is amazing and I loved sewing it.  The weight of the fabric is perfect and I just love it.

Aviatrix Medallion Quilt

This quilt has been in the making since May and it was so worth the wait.  It is a busy quilt but I just love, love it.
aviatrix medallion quilt

I didn't use the solids like Oh, Fransson's version on the pdf pattern/ and went with a variety of prints with just a dash of solids  The instructions are wonderful for the pattern and easy to follow.  If you want to sew this pattern for yourself, Elizabeth has a great quilt along to help.

Plantain Shirt - Style Maker Fabrics

I found a new-to-me fabric source, Style Maker Fabrics and I placed an order for a couple of pieces, one being this jersey knit stripe.  It is so soft and the aqua is such a nice contrast with the black and white.  It sat for just a bit and then I decided it would be a Deer and Doe Plantain t-shirt.  I have made this pattern a few times before and it was one of the Best Patterns of 2014 at Pattern Review

LInden Sweatshirt

I jumped onto the Grainline Studio's Linden Sweatshirt bandwagon but  why wouldn't I?  After all, I love their Archer Shirt pattern, you can tell by all the Archers I have made

I love the raglan sleeves, the relaxed fit and the style but I do need to change a couple of things

Vogue 9037 in Wool Flannel

Vogue 9037 is a beautiful jacket with a statement collar and nice waist defining tucks, this pattern pulled me right in and I had the perfect aubergine wool flannel from Mood for this garment.  I was drawn to the color of this wool on the Mood website and just look at all this aubergine inspiration from Pinterest.  This fabric has a bit of a brown cast to the aubergine, which is probably indicated by the "antique" in the name.

Totally Trendy Tote - #2

I was diligently working on a wool jacket for me until I ran out of supplies.  One thing I do not like to do is switch projects mid-stream but at the same time I did not want to be unproductive. This Totally Trendy Tote found itself pushed up in the queue.  This version is for Meredith but it has to hang in the local quilt shop as a sample first.
