Spring and Summer Sewing Plans

The time of year has arrived for beautiful weather and green grass, which means I need to start some spring and summer sewing plans.  I shared my fall plans on the blog and it really made me accountable and focused, so I will continue for this season.

First up, McCall's 7094

I have a RTW top like this and wear it so much.  I am going to use this silk from Mood

Butterick 6175 - Boxy top in Cotton Print

Bocy top for Spring 2015 using Butterick 6175 and a fun bird poplin print
Sometimes I am just ready for something different, especially with the change of the season.  One thing I have noticed  you get older, is to stay trendy but keep it age-appropriate.  It is a delicate line to walk, I don't want to dress like a 20-something but I don't want to dress too old. I thought I would try the trend of the boxy top, notice I said boxy not crop!

Kwik Sew 2895 - Confetti Tweed

I have been eyeing this gorgeous Mood Fabrics' Confetti Cotton-Blend Tweed for about three months and in March I just knew I really needed it for spring.  My accumulation of fabric is going better than my making of garments lately but that is okay, I need some for a rainy day, right?  After this fabric arrived at my doorstep, I had time to touch, feel and admire it.  With such admiration, I needed to find a pattern.  I used to always have the patterns first and then had trouble finding the right fabric.  It is much easier to find the pattern after the fabric, at least for me.  I say that but with this instance, I changed my mind at least twice.

Burda 6838

All I can say about this one is, YUK, I don't like it at all. It was one of those projects I had high hopes for but didn't meet the expectations.  Plus it was one of those projects that had one mishap after another.  The fabric is from Mood and while it is a wonderful stripe and I do like a good stripe, it is quite thin.

Winner of Jelly Roll

I am a bit late with the giveaway but busy weekend and only 10 entries your chances were good to win a jelly roll from this quilt

Congrats
Gorgeous quilt and love the funny name for it! We have all sorts of "inside joke" names for things. It's funny how things stick. Two of my favorites are we still call bathing suits "baby soups" and the TV remote "the rope". All courtesy of names the kids said when they were little. Miss those days of cuteness coming out of their mouths every other word. :)

email me your mailing address and the quilting fabric is on the way to you.

Hot Patterns Fast & Fabulous Blouse Back T

Hot Patterns Fast & Fabulous blouse back T made with Girl Charlee Fabric

Hot Patterns Fast & Fabulous Blouse Back T what a title for a pattern but it is one good looking shirt.  How do you like that back?  Beautiful colors and design which is complimented by the solid front.  That is a bit of a reversal from the pattern envelope but I knew Meredith would like this fabric.

Sutton Blouse - Mood Fabrics' SIlk Chiffon Panel

Mood Fabrics' silk chiffon made into Sutton Blouse

Spring?  Well, here in the Missouri  it comes and goes, in fact, Mother Nature is being quite stingy with the nice days.  There is a saying here, if you don't like the weather today in Missouri wait a few days and it will be totally different.  My plan is to be a step ahead of Mother Nature and to be ready for spring.  I ordered this gorgeous Mood Fabrics' famous designer blue/gray striped geometric silk chiffon panel last month with plans of a flowy top.
