Vogue 8840 - Stripe knit
I really like to sew knits and sometimes use them when the pattern calls for a woven. Vogue 8840 is such a pattern but I loved the look of the top. The fabric recommendations are synthetic suede, charmeuse and men's
suiting. I went with a lighter weight, lycra/cotton knit.

Cowl Neck Top by So Sew Easy
With my recent year-end post, I reflected on my 2014 makes and my goals for 2015. The most important goal was to sew for my lifestyle. I pondered on that goal and decided in my own little head to expand on that goal and include filling in the holes in my wardrobe.
The first hole was knit tops with a dressy look particularly to wear with some drapey cardigans that have been added thanks to some beautiful gifts and sales.

Friday Fashion Inspiration - 13
Friday again and time for inspiring sewing projects. Several of you replied you liked the focus on one type of garment and I did like planning the post that way. So today is all about tops, quick and easy tops. Why quick and easy?
Maybe you need a jump start after the holidays, maybe your wardrobe needs just a little something to add some color/life for the rest of the season, maybe you need something quick to sew in the middle of an extensive tailoring project, or for whatever your maybe might be here is quick and easy tops.....
A tank top for layering or those in the southern hemisphere for the warm temps. This one from Loft

Ginger Jeans in Denim
Making your own jeans can be intimidating but I went for it using a Mood Fabrics' Theory Denim (sold out but here are many more to pick from - Mood Fabrics' Denim) and the Ginger Jeans by Closet Case Patterns, which is named for Mood Sewing Network's own Ginger Makes
This denim pair is my third pair of pants from this pattern. The first from a stretch twill from Mood Fabrics and the second from Mood Fabrics' black suede cotton. Each time I changed a couple things on the pattern and this denim pair I feel is a good fit. One change was for the baggy seat, using this recommended alteration at Thread's Magazine and it really worked, no more baggy seat

Tablet Case
Do you all have patterns and supplies for a project AND these items have been sitting around forever just waiting for you to get to them? I sure do and one of those projects is a table case for Meredith. I think the fabric and pattern has been in my sewing room since early summer.
The pattern was iCases from Pattern by Annie
This pattern is not difficult to make and goes together very nicely. Also, I found it quick to make. Meredith chose the fabric and I love how they go together. Meredith is not known for her decisiveness and I do believe the fabric was changed several times!
The one issue I had with this pattern, is selecting the size. The pattern comes in a small and large case. I measured Meredith's Samsung tablet and went with the small case (6-1/4" H by 9-3/4" W), which was very close to the tablet. Once I had the case to a certain point, I tested out the size. Way too small and I was very disappointed, as you see it was just sewing up beautifully.
My solution?

Friday Fashion Inspiration - 12
It is back and ready for new projects for 2015. If you are like me the list just keeps growing and growing
I really need to make a new winter coat in a longer length and I have the perfect red wool.
Northern Hemisphere it is winter and very cold most parts so this Friday will be focused on coats.
How about this one from JCrew through
Net-a-Porter

Happenings
It is a new year and that means new projects and new events, right? Also, life changes.
I have been a very infrequent blogger the last 3 weeks but I really had good reason.
First off I didn't realize I needed a break but I guess I really did. I did not touch my laptop much during my weeks off. I did touch my new tablet, gift from hubby, I love that thing and it is so easy and fun to use. Not to mention, the perfect size. I love to use it in my sewing room to watch tv through various apps.
I did make it a point during break to do quite a bit of sewing, when I wasn't on the couch napping or watching TV! Yes, I was a bit of a couch potato, I will admit that.
After a bit of organizing in the sewing room, I had to get my quilting cotton purchases under control. I completed 2 quilt tops - one was a lap size from
Bonnie and Camille's April Showers
I used two jelly rolls for this but did omit all the fabric with the umbrellas, they just were not my style and in my opinion looked very 30's fabric.
Next up was a twin size quilt from
Heather Bailey's Up Parasol
plus some scraps from stash.
Using this pattern, Cheerio, which I had in a quilting magazine.
I will put up pictures after they are back from the quilter and the binding is on.
