Friday Fashion Inspiration - 12

It is back and ready for new projects for 2015.  If you are like me the list just keeps growing and growing

I really need to make a new winter coat in a longer length and I have the perfect red wool.

Northern Hemisphere it is winter and very cold most parts so this Friday will be focused on coats.

How about this one from JCrew through
 Net-a-Porter

Change the pockets a bit and you will have it in this Style Arc- Safari Jane jacket

Maybe something a bit easier?

This Vogue 8930 is very close, add a self-fabric belt.  Make sure you look at the Tahari back view and the Vogue back view

Add a pop of color to your wardrobe with a bright wool fabric, like this Boyfriend jacket from Goodnight Macaroon.  I think this one looks a bit oversized, which the first coat I have is more fitted.

This Burda Style  8-2012 pattern is a nice one and looks like the oversized "boyfriend" look

Only problem I could not find a good pattern.  Any suggestions for this style?

Which one is your favorite? Any pattern suggestions for the RTW coats I featured?

One more question.... do you like when I focus on one garment type or mix it up?

  1. Love this Fashion Inspiration post - for the color-blocked coat, maybe this one? https://angelakane.com/sewing_patterns/patterns/jacket-sewing-pattern-615.php

  2. Hi Lori - I really like this feature you do, and I liked it especially today, with the focus on just one type of garment.

  3. Yea! Friday Fashion Inspiration is back! Funny, I was thinking about coats when I was freezing in my cardigan this morning. My sewing list is groaning, though. I like the first coat (red wool would be fabulous) and the color-blocked coat. Since I don't wear coats very often in Florida, the first would be more practical. The color-blocked one would be more fun. I do prefer your focus on one garment type. My mind gets dizzy thinking of too many different garment types.

  4. I love this feature , also I like when it's a feature for one type of garment . I live in Arizona , but have to admit I love coats even tho I don't have much daily use for them !
Thanks for your work doing research !

  5. I like the focus on one garment as well. I'm currently working on Burda 6861 which could be a good starting point for the color blocked coat as well. http://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/67940. It's got the princess seam that you could but the pocket in, and the front band could be added on to the front instead of cut separately.
