Giveaway #6 - Marks 8 years of Blogging

For the last 6 months I have been having a giveaway to commemorate the
8 years
I have been blogging.  On August 26, 2006, I entered the blogging world.  Since that very first post, blogging and the sewing community has been such an amazing adventure.  I have made new friends, had new opportunities and just enjoyed every minute of blogging.

These giveaways have been a way for me to say thanks to all of you.  Thanks for your comments, encouragement, knowledge and  above all your friendship.  I have had the opportunity to meet several other bloggers and it has been so exciting.  Even though I have not met many of you in person, I feel such kinship and friendship with you.

For this final giveaway, I am giving away another  gift card to Mood Fabrics.

Just leave a comment on this post to be entered into the drawing.  What type of comment?  How about if you are still sewing for this season or looking forward to the new season..

I will close the drawing on August 15th and announce the winner on August 16th

Disclosure - the gift card will be purchased by me and emailed to you in the amount of $50

Congrats on 8 years...wow, thats a long time.
I vowed not to sew for the seasons & just sew what I love but yes, there are a few things coming out more appropriate for cooler weather!

  2. I've been enjoying your blog for almost a year. I'm sewing to fill gaps in my wardrobe that have appeared after losing weight. I need more trousers and shorts. I'm not making terribly many as I have not reached my target size.

    Slowly, slowly!

  5. I'm so pleased you blog Lori. And 8 years is a lot of blogging so congratulations. Your makes are always so lovely.
I have a couple more winter pieces to go but our winter is a shade on what you experience in the States.

  6. Congrats on 8 years of blogging! I am still sewing for the summer season; yet have been inspired of late for the upcoming fall season with new pattern offerings at Vogue and now this AM saw new patterns for fall on Butterick site. Which of course will lead me to fabric sites for new fall fabric!

  7. Eight years of blogging is a huge accomplishment. I guess you could say I am still sewing for summer. I vowed this January to finish all ufos and hit the stash. I am two skirts away from the end.

  8. Congrats for 8 years blogging! I just discovered your blog in the last year and have enjoyed reading thru the archives and seeing all the wonderful garments you made as well as getting several home dec ideas from the photos of your home. Right now, I'm gearing up for fall sewing and working on layering pieces to go with some RTW cardigans; and then will attempt a tailored jacket.

  9. Congratulations on 8 years! Perseverance is obviously one of your strong traits. :) I've decided to have a go at some jeans/ pants for my grandson after purchasing the Pattern Anthology package. Using those indie patterns will be a new experience for me.

  11. I have been sewing for clients (weddings); however, I plan to crank a few more summer items for myself in the coming weeks. I never can seem to sew ahead of season!

  12. Your blog is so inspiring. I still want to sew few summer items for kids and myself. Thanks for the giveaway.

  14. Congrats on 8 years, that's amazing! And inspiring! I can see how you've done it though. I've blogged before for my 'real' job, that I am also very passionate about and it always seemed like work, a chore to write the next article. I can blog about sewing in my sleep - can't shut me up, and a big reason is the amazing sewing community that we are a part of - all the inspirations and support out there! On the sewing front, I still have a little bit of summer in me but I'm making a conscious effort to wrap up summer sewing and think only of winter gear.

  15. 8 years...how much has your sewing changed in that time? Congratulation! Of course I am still sewing for the season, for two reasons. First, it is too hot & sticky to even think of handling fall/winter fabrics. Second, I am the slowest sewer, and am always behind on my projects. It will probably be too chilly to wear my last summer project by the time I finish it, but that just means that I will have something 'brand new" to wear when summer tolls around again!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Congratulations!
I'm still definitely holding on to the summer but i'm getting the itch to make a coat for the winter!

    ReplyDelete
  17. 8 years - wow... I am still sewing for summer at the moment, but am begining to think about the wool blend trousers I cut out in May and a Minoru jacket

  18. Thanks for sharing your adventures all these years! I've referred to your blog many a time when sewing various patterns, it's been such a nice resource. I confess I've been thinking way too much about fall/winter sewing. I even hand dyed some yardage of a cotton sweater knit I bought last week. I have about 4 coats on queue for various levels of the cold, too. But I gotta slow down, it's barely August :) Anf thank you for another chance at a giveaway!

I've loved listening to your family stories and watching you create many things for your home, family and yourself. It has been truly enjoyable. Thanks for sharing yourself so graciously, Lori.

  25. I still have two things to finish for summer - hopefully I'll finish up by next week. Pinterest has been great for pinning Fall sewing ideas and checking my stash and "go to" patterns to help get started. Then of course I always like to give my sewing room a good cleaning to start a new sewing season. Thank you for giving me such great sewing inspiration over the years and look forward to many more!

Hi Lori, Congrats on 8 years of blogging, wow!!! I am STILL all about sewing for summer. Here, it has not been a very hot summer at all (and I love the sun and heat) so I am going to milk it and drain every drop out of summer that I can. I purposely avoided reading any of the comments because I did not even want to read "I'm sewing for autumn/winter". (shudders). Not yet, NOT YET!! :)

  32. Still sewing for summer here in Florida
