McCall's 7975 - Floral Knit

Twists are just too fun on a garment and this one has a great twist and a fun front.

This pattern is McCall's 7975 and I have had it since the release but didn't feel a need to make it until I saw Sew Shannon's leopard version.   I pulled out my pattern, asked Shannon for some sizing advice and went to find some knit fabric.  This is the only knit I have in my stash but it works, I bought it on the sale rack at Hobby Lobby.

Shannon mentioned she made a Medium but it was a bit big.  Thanks to measurements on sewist's profiles on Instagram, I knew we were about the same size.  I cut mine out between a small and medium.  Next time I will make a small.

This fabric is so soft and I went with View C length minus the ruffle.  The next one I will make a regular long sleeve for the winter.

The twist is a bit tricky but just take it slow and work through the directions.  I did not add any length to this one.  If you need a fun top with a fun twist, yep, I used a bit of a pun!  I need to purchase more knit to make more.

  1. Cute top but the twist looks a bit complicated.

    1. It really wasn't too hard, just go slowly and read through the instructions.

  2. Lori, your top looks great on you. Love that the neckline seems to fit perfectly - not too high, but also not drooping :)

  4. Cute, Twist top. I first saw your top on Instagram and liked it. Of course, I had to try it too, finishing my first top last night. And yes, it runs big. I used a medium with a few minor adjustments and it fits fine without my usual FBA. Love this one and will make it a few more times.
