Well Suited for Fall - Style Maker Fabrics Fall Tour

I am so happy to a part of the Style Maker Fabrics' Fall Blog Tour.  You all cannot imagine my excitement when Michelle asks me to be a part of her tours, it brings me such joy!

Michelle curates the most amazing collection of fabrics for Style Maker Fabrics and this fall collection is so amazing.  After the first eight days, I ordered several pieces for myself, I just couldn't wait.

When Michelle previewed the fall collection, my eye was immediately drawn to this plaid suiting, it was love at first sight.  I quickly asked for yardage of this Stretch Glen Plaid Bottom Weight Camel/Rust and notice it does have some lycra in the blend!  So more comfort for my True Bias Lander Pants.  The fall trend shows some crop pants and booties or combat type boots.  I went with combat boots.

Now let's talk about the construction of these pants.  I cut them one layer at a time so I could make sure I had good plaid matching!  The cutting was so easy as this fabric is a dream, has some substance and stability.  My fabric didn't shift, a big plus for sewing seams and matching plaids!

On my Lander Pants, I went with the expansion pack so I could have a zipper front.  I think the plaid calls for a zipper and not a button fly, the zipper just looks a bit dressier.  For the front pockets, I did not cut the pattern until I was ready to sew it on.

And this view

Let's talk about the back pockets, Michelle helped me decide.  I was trying to match them vertically and horizontally and it just wasn't working.  I cut out a bias one and we knew that was the winner.

The only place, I didn't match was the waistband.  I am going to wear a belt most the time, which oops, I forgot for the photos.  My hubby, took the photos and he did a great job.  This was a first for us but I think he is hired!

Let's move to the shirt, Michelle selected the perfect match, Slub Texture Linen Blend in Cinnamon.  This blend is the softest and so comfy for fall plus matches the rust in the plaid perfectly.  I pulled out one of my favorites, Butterick 5997

The gathers at the yoke are a great touch on this pattern and the fabric gathered perfectly.  Look at the texture in this fabric and it comes in 16 colors!

I did flat fell the sleeve seam, just a few inches so it would look nice when I rolled up the sleeves

I love my new outfit, I plan on making some more tops and possibly a cardigan, I am looking at this Rib Sweater Knit in Camel  or maybe Cinnamon, a Nikko would be a good match for the pants, right?

For now, I am just going to sit in my new Fall outfit and smile because I love it so!  Thanks, Michelle, I am honored to be part of the Fall Tour.
