Hot Patterns Slouchy T-shirt with Pfaff Creative Icon Radiant Stitch

Hot Patterns 1226 Slouchy tee made with Sewing Studio fabric and the Pfaff Creative Icon

Time to play with a new pattern, fun fabric and a great decorative stitch with the Pfaff Creative Icon

First up the pattern, Hot Patterns Plain & Simple Slouchy T-shirt Blouse and the fabric is from Sewing Studio.  The pattern was given to me by Jeremy from Hot Patterns and the rib knit fabric I purchased from Sewing Studio, with the shirting given to me by Karleen of Sewing Studio.  I was thrilled to see how well these two went together and knew I needed to use them together.

Let's start with the pattern, it runs really big,  probably a clue is the "Slouchy" in the name.  It is really big so be warned for sizing.  I make a size 12 always in a McCall's pattern for comparison.  I made a size 10 in the princess seams, a size 8 in the side seams and ended up taking more in on the side seams.  Now the big a slouchy was out of my comfort zone, so that is why I took it in so much.

I used the rib knit for the neck binding and took 3 inches out of the pattern piece.  My fabric was pretty stretchy and I could of taken a couple more inches from the neckline to make it lay flat a bit better.  I do think after a run through washer and dryer, the rib knit will shrink a bit.

I have been intrigued by the Pfaff Creative Icon Radiant Stitch, and the description from Pfaff
"Radiant Stitches Sew decorative stitches along a curved line with ease Radiant stitches spread out equally along any curve"

I really wanted to use this stitch, so I did some practicing and found my favorite one.  Here it is and do use stabilizer under the stitch.

Tired of looking at it yet?  I do have an Instagram story which shows how to sew this Radiant Stitch.

I wanted the topstitching on each princess seam to show and used the triple topstitch.

Here is the radiant stitch I went with, there is some sewing and some stopping and turning to make this great stitch.  A big hint really pay attention to the lines on the presser foot.

I really liked how the rib knit looked at the neckline, so I added it at the bottom of the sleeve

And the bottom of the top.  My fabric is a soft shirting but does have a bit of  body, the bottom band gives the shirt a bit of weight and it hangs better.

This top is a winner but it did take some work to get the fit right, do measure the flat pattern measurements with your measurements to get the size you want.

Disclosure - the pattern was given to me by Jeremy of Hot Patterns, part of the fabric from Karleen of Sewing Studio and it was sewn on Pfaff's Creative Icon, which I am a brand ambassador.
