Some #sewcialmashup

So how are you coming along on the #sewcialmashup challenge?  I have a top to show you, which is a mashup

This top is the body and sleeves of the Fresh Press Pattern Willow Top and the peplum from the
Liesl & Co Rush Hour Blouse  and this is made form the famous stripe linen from Joann's

I love how this turned out and I had a great time mixing the stripe.  I made the top a bit longer, so I had to unsew the peplum.  Then had to shorten the top.  Other than that it really was a quick sew and a fun sew.

I measured the top and made sure the peplum was long enough.  I did have to add a few inches to CB on the back peplum.  I didn't add to the front, just didn't have enough fabric.  I just have to remember to wear my high waisted jeans.

Let's talk about a few more possibilites

Butterick 6691 -
from Butterick site

This is part of my mash-up.  Take the pants and add another top - say the Adrienne Blouse

from Friday Pattern Co site

Or take the top and add your favorite skirt, say the Seamwork Kenzie skirt

McCall's 7992

from site

So this dress would work for either the top or skirt.

So is your mind thinking of all the possibilities.

I am by no means an expert on mashing patterns but some tips

  1. Measure the patterns you are going to mash up, you might have to add or subtract to make it work
  2. Use pieces of the original pattern to help you determine lengths, shapes, facings, etc.
  3. Can you get the mashup on?  Do you need to add zippers, buttons, elastic?
Enjoy sewing your #sewcialmashup

Lindsey and myself are so enjoying seeing all the creations.
