Simplicity 1756- Mood Fabrics' Metallic Linen

Do you have that pattern that sits around just waiting for you to make it? It might be finding the time to make it or in my case just finding the right fabric. Well, thanks to Mood Fabrics, I found the perfect fabric.

It is a Lindasol Metallic Gold and White on Oatmeal Stretch Linen and in person the stripe is very subtle. The pattern for this fabulous fabric is a sleeveless blazer, Simplicity 1756, which is out of print, but still so cute and fun.

My fabric washed beautifully and I loved  working with the stretch linen.  Before I started to make this sleeveless vest, I went to Pinterest to look at outfit combinations and just to reassure myself I would wear it.  After I looked at the ideas, I knew it was a yes and I couldn’t wait to get started

On the double breasted look, traditionally, there are two buttons on one side and one on the other.  I don’t plan on ever buttoning this sleeveless blazer, so I balanced the buttons.  I did sew the buttonholes but I did not cut them open.

The back of the Sleeveless Blazer has a double vent, just adding to the details on this garment

Deep pockets for the front of the vest, with the top of the pockets interfaced.  This is important but very important with the stretch linen, the interfacing will keep the pockets from stretching out.

This garment is unlined and I serged the seams to finish.

Patience was a good thing on this project, I love my Sleeveless Blazer and the metallic linen is so perfect.  The color of the linen is such a good basic color and the metallic just adds some fun.  I know I will wear and wear this sleeveless blazer, it is just so fun.

I tried the sleeveless vest with a couple other looks, I think it will be very versatile.

And my True Bias Lodo Dress
Disclosure - I receive a monthly fabric allowance from Mood Fabrics to make a garment.  This garment is blogged at Mood Sewciety Blog first and then I will blog here about this garment.

  2. I bought a sleeveless vest very similar to this year before last. I was absolutely astounded how often I wore it. It looks fabulous with plain t's, blouses, and thin sweaters. Great job.
