Burda 7447

Here is the first pair and this blog post is my second pair.  I used my Burda 7447 for most of the pattern and Sewaholic Thurlow Trouser for the wide leg look.  I compared the Thurlow to Burda 7447 and decided the Burda was better for my body shape.   With this in mind and the fact I wanted a wide leg trouser, I used the wider leg of the Thurlow from the knee down.  This worked quite well.

Once again I am super-pleased with my pants and the fit.
Here is another picture, you can see the front better but I must be standing funny, as there is more wrinkles.

Here is the back, not the greatest of pictures but you get a general idea

I did notice from the picture, the pants are not as long as I had hoped.  So heading down to let out the hem before I wash them.
Comparing the Thurlow and the Burda pattern.  Much of the design details are the same – welt pockets, front pockets, wide wasitband. The major difference is the shape.  The Burda seems to be for more of a slim cut, the Thurlow has curves.  My only suggestion on either one is pick which is best for your body shape.

  4. Loved your first pair, and now the second as well. I was inspired to pick up the Burda pattern.

  5. These trousers look terrific! and I think unless you are going for skinny stretch jeans or unless your fabric is particularly heavy it's practically impossible to eliminate wrinkles entirely.

  6. Just love a trouser jean. They are super flattering on you Lori. I am chuckling to myself that you went in to let the hem down...remembering a conversation we had about wearing our clothes right away and then having to make adjustments when we get home from work!

  8. Those are amazing and the wrinkles don't look horrible or really awful. The fact is - we don't stand perfectly still in life so we have wrinkles! They look great. enjoy. g

  12. I love the pants. I wish I could drop my fear of anticipating a lot of work and start making up the patterns that I've bought.

  13. I love these pants. They are exactly what I've been looking for in stores to no avail. Guess that should tell me something...time to break out the sewing machine!

Thanks for your inspiration to sew...you're very encouraging!

  14. Those look great on you! A good pair of dark denim trouser pants can get a lot of wear. I think it was smart to let down the hem a bit, too. They will likely shrink a bit more, anyways.

I haven't sewn for myself since last fall... I think Mama needs some new stuff, too. :)
