Alice Book Bag

It all started with a Saturday trip to a quilt shop with my friend, Robin and my daughter, Meredith.  Meredith spotted this pattern by Betz White

So that led to fabric and webbing for the strap, oh, yes, a package of grommets, too.

About a week later, I made  the book bag and here are several pictures

My only change was to add Peltex to the bag, used it on the back of the outer fabric.  I wanted the bag to be a bit sturdier and the layer of Peltex was just right.

Now anyone, familiar with the "Give a Mouse a Cookie" book?  The mouse asks for one thing, which leads to another and another.  Well, this blog post could be titled "Make One Sister a Bag and You Will be Making More"

Saturday morning was a trip to the quilt shop in town and fabric for two more bags and then a trip into Joann's on Saturday night for the webbing and then Sunday night two more bags.

Found red webbing at Joann's, perfect for this bag

Contrasting flap on this one.
All three of the girls are thrilled, Paige probably won't want one (not her style), so I am done for a bit.  Until one of their friends ask for one!

  4. I want one! (lol) While I wouldn't need this as a book bag, I would certainly use it as a cross body bag. Very nice!

  11. This is probably an odd question, but I was wondering whether you remember the designer or the name of the fabric of the second bag (the one that looks like a patchwork quilt). I thought I had it bookmarked for a project, but now that I was looking for it, I can't for the life of me find it. I just remembered that you also did a bag with it, so I thought you might remember.
