June and Lu Fabrics - Transitioning to Fall

September 1st and time to think about fall coming.  We still have hot days but last night it was 59 degrees and such a nice change.

My sewing plans are starting to look more fall like but really I think I need to call it transitional sewing.  Layers for that cooler morning and a short sleeve option under that layer.

This outfit is so perfect for that, my fabric came from June and Lu Fabrics and were provided to me as part of the Ambassador program, which I am for this year.

The fabric for the t-shirt is a beautiful Summer Bouquet Clear in Jersey Knit  and the print is amazing, such vibrant, beautiful colors with a watercolor feel.  I used Hey June's Union St Tee for the pattern and the crew neck option.  This knit fabric is great quality and was a dream to sew, I love all the colors in the flowers and so many options for layers.

Speaking of layers, I went with Duck Green French Terry See You at Six for my cardigan fabric.  This Duck Green is a great compliment to the floral knit and will be the perfect color for fall and so many other outfit options.  I went with The Grace Cardigan for the pattern with a couple of changes.

First, for the pocket, I took the wrong side of the top of the pocket and turned it to the right side, I wanted the texture to show.  I just stitched the pocket onto the cardigan with the raw edge showing.  I really don't like to turn under knit for pockets, I never get the results I hoped for.  I like the look of this and it was so easy.  The pockets seem a bit high but for a visual reason, the seem to accent the waist and give some definition.

Next pet peeve on cardigans, too tight on my bicep and a short sleeve shirt or long sleeve shirt does not fit.  My answer, alter the sleeve and I used this tutorial from By Hand London to make my sleeves a bishop sleeve.  I love the look of these sleeves and with that big cuff - LOVE!  And an added benefit not tight sleeves

Wednesday night, I had dinner with one of my daughter's family and at the table my 9 year old grandson states, so why can't you wear white pants after Labor Day?   I replied oh, someone made up a silly rule that people use to follow but now that isn't a rule.  Really, I wanted to say, how do you know this?  LOL

So this is my transistional outfit - white pants after Labor Day, which are Lander pants!   My great t-shirt and this wonderful bishop sleeve cardigan.

Disclosure - This fabric was gifted to me as part of the  June and Lu Ambassador program but the opinions are all mine.
