Polka Dot Sage Brush Top

A cute blouse is an addition I needed to my wardrobe and this style seemed perfect for spring.  Ruffles and statement sleeves are two features that make this pattern a winner

This pattern?  It is Friday Pattern Company's Sagebrush Top which is for woven fabric and has puff sleeves, gathers and the cute ruffle at the yoke.  My intention was to pattern mix this fabric with a stripe lightweight linen, these looked great together and I really thought I did not have enough of the polka dot.  I thought wrong and there was plenty of the polka dot so I went with that.

The fabric cam from Style Maker Fabrics' Selvage Yard section  and is a rayon poplin with amazing drape.  The Sagebrush can be made from breezy drapey fabric like voile or this rayon poplin or from a more structured linen.  It all depends on the look you want.

The top really goes together so quickly, which is a bit surprising with all the details.  I do like how the neck binding continues through the back neckline and becomes the tie for the closure

Some suggestions

Take extra time and get the ruffle evenly distributed, I might have a bit too much in one area.

Pin the elastic for the sleeve in place and try it on, mine wants to pull up just a bit and wish I had just worn my top a bit to see how the elastic moved with me wearing the top

I have made this pattern once before as a sample for Style Maker Fabrics' booth during the virtual Sew Expo 2021.  /After making that first one, I knew I needed more in my wardrobe.  I might try one without the ruffle for a different look.
