Liesl & Co Maritime Knit Top

Liesl & Co Maritime Knit Top made from Sewing Studio Stripe Jersey

If you have followed my blog for awhile, you know I like a good knit shirt.  I have found a good knit shirt!  Woo Hoo!!

The pattern is Liesl & Co Maritime Knit Top

This simple pull-on top is designed for knit fabrics with a little or a lot of stretch. View A features three-quarter-length sleeves while View B has short sleeves. Both styles include a bateau neck with topstitching detail and simple side vents, as well as a flattering fit.

Now this top has a facing for the bateau neckline, I changed the neckline a bit and then added a knit band for the neckline with bias of this fabulous fabric.  This change was just personal preference, I like a more rounded neckline.

The fabric is  from Sewing Studio - Olive Vintage Stripe Brushed Jersey and it feels great with a good hand and drape.

The construction is easy and straightforward.  I do like the side slits but I can see not doing them every time, just change it up.

I think I cut and sewed this up in less than 2 hours and I love my new knit top.  In fact, I just finished a second one.

  2. Sigh, now there is another pattern I "need"! This looks really nice - comfortable and flattering. I'm trying to figure out what you changed on the neckline. It has the same look as the pattern samples. Did you lower the front and/or back neckline a little, or did you narrow the neckline a little on the shoulders? Whatever the changes, they are subtle enough to keep the overall look. Terrific!

    1. I just rounded it bit at the shoulders . I also cut my binding smaller by 2-3 inches than the flat pattern measurements and that pulled in the neckline more too. I have another one I cut out first and just sewed up, I didn’t do the right changes so it looks a bit different and the neckline binding doesn’t lay as flat
