Friendship Quilt

I am a member of a local quilt guild and we have a great time.  Each month we draw a member's name and that means you get a friendship block from each member, enough for a quilt.  This navy and gray quilt is my friendship quilt.

How does it work?  Well, each month we bring our blocks for the two previous month's drawn name. That is confusing - say your name was drawn in June, then August you would get your blocks.   We proudly show off our made block and put it in a basket.  The recipient of the blocks get to draw for the next winner.  This winner has a month to decide what type of blocks they want, and colors they want.  We go from very little direction, to specific colors, to background fabric provided and even some fabric provided along with a pattern.  Once your name is drawn, then you are out of the drawing until everyone wins a quilt.  We are down to about 5-6 members, then we will start all over again.

For my quilt, I went with navy and gray for the colors and I provided the background fabric.  I also asked for all my blocks to work on point.

I had to lay it out flat on the porch so you can see it all.  It is just beautiful and so special to me.  These ladies are my friends and we share so much of our life with each other.  These quilts are like stories and each one represents my friends.

Take the compass block in the middle right of this next picture, that is Jane's.  Jane always makes a very intricate paper pieced block.

Another close-up of blocks.

See the block with the hexies?  That is Patty's and hexies are her signature, which she can make so quickly.

Other blocks are known for their name which  has special meaning to the maker.  Contrary Wife, my dear friend Meredith, she laughs every time she says it.  I love this.

My daughter, Meredith has a block in this quilt and I have two blocks so the layout would be just right.

Here is the quilting, done by a friend and fellow quilt quilt member.  She works magic with her longarm machine.  My background fabric is the same I used for the back, taking the graphic pattern from the background for the quilting design.

A close-up of one block.

One last step needs to be done by me, I need to embroidery a label with all the details of this quilt, it needs to be documented.

  14. A friendship quilt is a collaborative project where individuals contribute individual quilt blocks that represent their friendship or shared memories. Each participant crafts a unique piece, and when combined, the blocks create a meaningful and visually diverse quilt. Friendship quilts are often created as a symbol of unity, commemorating shared experiences among a group of friends or community members.

  15. HOW YOU CAN RECOVER YOUR LOST CRYPTO/FUNDS: Lost hope in a crypto scam? I got my $394,330 back! I invested $430,000 in a bogus crypto site. Big returns promised, withdrawals blocked, extra fees demanded – it was a nightmare. Feeling trapped, I even considered the unthinkable. My family helped me through it, and my niece suggested HACKERSTEVE911. They'd helped her with grades, but I'd never thought of them for this. I contacted them, expecting little. But within four days, they recovered $394,330 back to my wallet! My hope, my life, was back. If you're in a similar situation, don't lose hope. Contact them on hackersteve911@gmail.com
