Simplicity 1463 - Stripe Knit

Simplicity 1463 in stripe knit with lace back

Sometimes you have a winner and sometimes you have a loser.  This top was the later but has a great back detail

Simplicity 1463 has been on my to-do list for some time and I had this stripe knit calling to be made.

The stripe knit came from Mood Fabrics and the lace was from a kimono I made back in 2016.  The fabric was just a bit stiff for the kimono, so I re-purposed it for this top today and the yoke on this  top

I did have to make a center back seam on the lace but I don't think it is noticeable.  What is noticeable is the thread I didn't clip!

This top really does nothing for me and the flutter sleeves just are not working.  I enjoyed making this and using the gorgeous lace, so that is all a good thing.  This top has made its way to Meredith.  I am not sure how she feels about it as I have not seen her wear it yet!  Has anyone else made this top?

I was so excited about this pattern but sometimes it just doesn't work out, right?

Happy sewing all.

  1. I've had this pattern for awhile, but hadn't noticed that those sleeves were flutter sleeves. It looks like there is a seam down the center of the sleeve. Do you think it could be reshaped? Other than the flutter, it looks like a cute top.

I don't think that sleeve shape is very flattering on many people.

    1. I think it could be reshaped and base it on the sleeveless option.

  2. Made two tops at a sewing retreat on Saturday, one fit great (even through the instructions were a bit off sewing it up) and the other I was very excited about but when I got home and tried it on I couldn't get it off fast enough. So I put it in the giveaway pile and will move on...really like the fabric so it was a disappointment....

    1. Those disappointments happen but are hard to take when you like the fabric.

  3. I know what you mean about flutter sleeves, I don't think they are for me either.

  6. Stripe knit refers to a fabric characterized by alternating colored stripes created through the knitting process. This textile technique produces a pattern where bands of different colors or shades are seamlessly incorporated into the knit structure. Stripe knit fabrics are commonly used in various clothing items, providing a visually appealing and dynamic design element.
