Ginger Jeans- Second pair in Black

I finished my second pair of Ginger Jeans this weekend and wore them to a Christmas with friends.  I love this pair, too.

Lots of wrinkles in this pictures, but I think it is the hands in my pockets, making the pants pull across the front.

The fabric is from Mood - a sueded cotton, which has just a bit of spandex.

For this pair,

  • I added 1" the the rise and 1-1/2" at the center back
  • folded a small dart in the front pattern piece at the bottom of the zipper.  I tapered the dart to nothing at the seam allowance.  This really helped to eliminate the wrinkles in the front.
  • I put 2 small snaps on the front waistband.  I really like to use snaps on my waistbands but on the denim I will try a jeans button.

Changes for next time
Thanks to Trumbelina, I am going to do this adjustment for the third pair

After pinching out fabric on this black pair, I really think this will help tremendously.

On this pair I did use the skinny leg but not too skinny as I felt the fabric did not have alot of stretch.  From experience, I have a pair of Loft skinny jeans and they do not have much stretch, it is the hardest pair of pants to pull over my feet!  I did not want the same thing with these pair.

My denim has good stretch and I will use the pattern exactly for the skinny leg.

I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.  I will be back next week but the rest of this week is for family.

Cute outfit! I think they look really good! I just got the pattern traced out, so I hope to be making these soon! (as soon as I finish some quilts, that is...)

  6. Those look so cute, practical and versatile! I might need a pair myself. I'm assuming the suedeish fabric is warm, too. You have totally talked me into it!
