Bloom Baby Quilt

This past spring I puchased this pattern

Bloom by V and Co.

And the fabric to make this quilt.  I just kept putting it off and putting it off.  All that tracing on the fusible web, then cutting and then applying onto the background.  Finally, I just had to get to this project but I made it much smaller, baby quilt size in fact.

It was perfect size not to be overwhelming for me to make  but yet will be so cute for a little girl

I did stitch around each petal after I fused it onto the backgroud fabric. A better look at the quilting:

My new quilting of late is just baby quilts.  I love to make them and have some on hand when a friend or family member has a baby.  I look through my little stash of quilts and pick one out that is perfect for the new baby.

Vogue 8925

I purchased from Mood Fabrics' this Thakoon Coral Cotton Sweatshirt fabric

but then was on hold looking for a pattern.  I had some thoughts on the pattern, comfy was first but yet stylish.  With the holidays coming up, I wanted a top that I could wear around the house on the weekends but when I needed a quick run to town, it looked good.   I always need something  - tape, lights, more ribbon, something to make cookies.  This Thakoon fabric is so nice and I knew it would be a vast improvement over all my paint-smeared sweatshirts.

My Little Dinosaur

After several years of not making costumes, I am back in the costume making business.  A dinosaur for my little guy and I am bias but I think he is the cutest little dinosaur.

I used Simplicity 1767 for the base of the costume, it was in his size.

This pattern is just a sleeper with a shorter zipper.  It went together quickly and all I changed was added more elastic to the hood.

These were all cute costumes in this Simplicity 1767 pattern but little guy's mom wanted him to be a dinosaur.  So I used Simplicity 1765, this one was in the larger size range but worked perfectly for the details.

I shortened the tail, added spikes to the back of the costume and to the hood and it was really starting to look like a super cute dinosaur.  I just wondered how I was going to attach the tail.  Well, little guy's dad said, you can't attach it, he won't be able to sit in his carseat.  Oh, yes, that is right, so the tail is attached with 3 snaps.

The tail is heavy and does weigh down the bottom of the costume but it still is so cute.

His parents took him to five houses and he performed for everyone.  In fact, he loved crawling in his costume.  Oh, yes, one more addition, I used the breast plate (or whatever you might call it) from the larger pattern for the front.  I am so happy I used this detail, it really adds to the costume.

Now a dinosaur has to be able to walk on the back legs and this little guy can do it ......with some help from his mom

You can see in the above picture, I didn't quite make the tail proportional, it hangs a bit low.  Good thing you only have to be a dinosaur for a couple hours so a low hanging tail isn't too much of a bother!


One thing I know for sure, this cute little face makes this Nana's heart melt.

Vintage Floral Luxe Sweatshirt

Thanks to Meg's Sew a Luxe Sweatshirt post. I knew this was going to be one of my future projects. I went with the top right fabric, Moods Fabrics' Red and Gray Silk-Cotton fabric
and per Meg's suggestion I went with an ivory ponte

 The pattern was my hardest choice, did I want raglan or did I want drop shoulders? After looking at Meg's post and a magazine page from In-Style magazine, I went with a dropped shoulder, using Burda Style 11/2012 #128 (which can be purchased and downloaded at the Burda Style website).
