Plaid Mercer Top

I made the Mercer Top at the end of June and knew I need another one right away.  Good thing for me, I had purchased a fun plaid in April, so I was all set on my second one.

My first Mercer top by Sewing and the City was so fun to make and I love how it looks so a second one jumped to the top of my sewing list.  My time to sew is limited this summer, if you follow me on Instagram, you know I have started a cut flower business.  I am busy most nights, weeding, watering, starting new flowers (yes have time before frost) and then making and selling bouquets.

Good thing the Mercer is a quick top to sew but I slowed the process a bit my using a plaid.  My plaid is from Style Maker Fabrics and is sold out, which is too bad the colors in this fabric are amazing.  I decided to do the sleeves with the plaid on the bias.  I love how this looks, gives a bit more interest to an already fabulous sleeve detail.

I did cut all my patterns in a single layer so I could match the plaid.  The cutting of this top was the most time consuming but that was mainly due to the plaid.

If you have not checked out this pattern, you really should.
