Style Maker Fabrics Spring Blog Tour 2020- Dramatic Shirt Dress

So happy it is Spring and even more excited for the Style Maker Fabrics' Spring Blog Tour.  I am so honored and excited to be back again and deeply appreciate the gift of this beautiful fabric

The minute I saw this Style Maker Fabrics' Patchwork Print Mix Rayon Crepe I knew I wanted it, needed it!

I loved everything about it, the texture, the print and the drape.  The pattern was in my head and I could see the front cover but couldn't think of the pattern number.  When I got home, I went right to my pattern cabinet and found it, Simplicity 8546.  I have been wanting to make this pattern but had not found the perfect fabric,  This Style Maker Rayon Crepe was just that, the perfect fabric.

The fabric was so easy to sew and I enjoyed every step.  To help with the collar and collar stand, I interfaced both sides of these pieces..  I did this in a couple of steps, after fusing the interfacing, I checked the piece to the pattern piece.  The double interfacing helped to keep the collar stand upright and with some body.

The fabric print has the best layout, just nice and floating across the fabric. Just look at the back, you can see the pattern in full view.  My husband and I went to a local lake and took the photos.  A bit of a breeze was perfect for dramatic  photos.

Now for the second part of my post, the True Bias Ogden Cami from Style Maker Fabrics' Soft Washed Linen Blend Shirting in Coral, which comes in 6 colorways.  While looking at Pinterest and RTW sites, I wanted to add a ruffle to my Ogden.  I kept it on the smaller width.  The ruffle does pull away from the body more than I like so I added a small casing for some elastic to pull it in

This linen is so amazing to sew, I need more in my life.  Michelle matched this linen to the patchwork print and it is a perfect match.  Michelle and Sharon are such a great team and their customer service is the best.  The fabrics are beautiful and they are always available for questions, swatches and print matching.

Thank you, Style Maker Fabrics, Michelle and Sharon, for the opportunity to participate in the Spring Blog Tour.

Disclosure - I received this fabric in exchange for a blog post but the opinions are all mine.

  1. These are beautiful garments - one basic with a twist and the other quite dramatic. I buy all my rayon fabrics from Style Maker fabrics and have never been disappointed in the quality and their shipping is really fast! I don't have any affiliation with this company. Karen

  2. Two lovely makes, in gorgeous fabrics. Unfortunately postage and customs charges to the UK are just too much for me to buy from the US, so I cannot buy from Style Maker fabrics and they hve some really lovely fabrics.
