Buffalo Check Flannel Archer Shirt

Grainline Archer Shirt from Mood Fabrics' Buffalo Check Flannel

It is winter time and that means a new flannel shirt. To me flannel means plaid or check and I saw a RTW shirt with big buffalo check, using two colorways. This was the shirt I needed and I knew I could make it better with my own signature on it.

So off to Mood Fabrics and a search for buffalo check, yes, I struck gold, the perfect buffalo check.  The first is white and black Buffalo Check and the second dark red/black buffalo check.  So quickly into the cart these two went and my head was spinning with plans. There is two other colorways also, - blue/black and green/black.   Of course, I used the Archer Shirt pattern and I went to cutting.  Some straight of grain and some on the bias.     So the front placket was on the bias, this time I used the placket on both sides of the shirt, instead of folding the other side under.  I did place my first front band right sides together and cut another one with the exactly the same pattern layout.  I made sure I started it at the same place.  This is what I got, I am so happy with this.   Mood Fabrics' Buffalo Check flannel for an Archer shirt - bias plaid front band with matching sides

The back yoke is bias and I cut the back on the fold with the middle black stripe on the fold.

Darn, I had cut them the same and then taken a couple of days sewing break.  I just went to sewing, next time I will leave notes!

I debated pocket or no pocket, the pocket won, adding a button for detail

I like to cover the sleeve seam, making it look cleaner when you roll up the sleeves.  I used a bit of red fabric.

I did lay out the front so the white-black-white-black pattern continued across the front.   This will be the way I probably will wear it, partial tuck.
