Three T-shirts - Two Patterns - McCall's 6964 and Union St Tee

With Me Made May in full on mode, I went to work on some basics.  Every spring and summer I need more t-shirts and I am still working on finding the one I like the best.




This time I used McCall's 6964 for the two stripe knit t-shirts and the Union St Tee for the printed t-shirt.  On the McCall's I did a FBA and that seems to work nicely.  On the Union St.  Tee, I used the FBA for the first few but decided not to do it this time.  I did pinch out a small dart to get rid of the excess fabric (as seen in this photo)  The Union St Tee is drafted for a B/C cup, that was my basis for not using the FBA piece included in the pattern.

Here is the Union St Tee and I really like the fit of this one, a bit slouchy and relaxed and best of all that extra fabric is gone.

The one thing I will do next time is go down a size in the hips.  This fabric is from Fabric Mart purchased a year or more ago.  I never noticed until I was pressing it there are leaves in the print!  LOL, totally missed that before.

Okay, this pattern is a winner and I think I have it where I need it, so when I want a more relaxed fit, the Union St. Tee will be my go-to pattern.

Next up McCall's 6964 in the v-neck version.  The Sewing Studio's blue jersey stripe is first.  

Love this fabric, it is wonderful to sew and a beautiful color.  I am going to do the same thing on this pattern, pinch out a bit of extra fabric just above the bust.

The neckline piece, I should of shortened by about 2", it is just too loose.  I did correct that on my next one.  To help fix this one, I added some elastic to the back neckband and pulled it in.  This was from a tip on Debbie's Stitches and Seams blog

I did shorten this top by 2 inches, it is quite long but other than that and the FBA, my only changes.

See it already works in my wardrobe, looks great with different pants and shorts!

Now last shirt another McCall's 6964 in Sewing Studio's Red and White Jersey Knit.  I did shorten the neckband and it worked out better.  On my knits, I use only my serger, except for the v-neck.  I do staystitch, then clip the to the stitching at the v-neck.  Next up match, the stitched v-neck band to the clip.  I then sew on the sewing machine two inches on each side of the v-neck.  This way I can ensure I get the middle of the neckband matched up to center front.

Not much to say about this one but here is in the last photo, you can tell where I need to pinch out that fabric or that is my fix for this!  So the verdict is still out on this one, I am not sure I will make this pattern again.  Next up is the Briar t-shirt again, I really like the ones I have and I do believe that will be my go to fitted shirt.

Now for the extra leftover fabric, I made some little clothes for my granddaughters.

First up The Breezy Romper with some rick-rack trim

And then the Flutter Sleeve dress - this one with quilting cotton for the sleeves and skirt part.

Then this one was just like the pattern, I love the bias neck and arm trim.
