Two Knit Shirts - Briar T-Shirt and McCall's 6964

McCall's 6964 from Mood Fabric's jersey knit

After Me Made May, I realized I needed more knit shirts.  In need, I mean desperately need.

I ordered lots of knit fabric from three different sources - Mood Fabrics, Fabric Mart and Style Maker Fabrics.

Next up, I went through my patterns and decided to pull out my favorites knit patterns. My thought is, to try these favorite patterns and maybe see which one is the top favorite.

First up McCall's 6964 from this Mood Fabrics' Geometric Jersey Knit.

I did a bit of changing on this one from my last McCall's 6964 and went with my first one and compared the sizing to this one.  I have one more favorite tshirt from Loft and used that to get the fit I wanted

I like the fit everywhere on this one except for that little crease just above the bust.  I did do a FBA on this one (same as the red-navy one) and might have to adjust it a bit.  All in all I really like this shirt and the feel of the fabric.

I did have enough fabric to make Kaitlyn a Plantain Shirt

Next up Megan Neilsen's Briar Shirt, which this one has always been a favorite and this white one is a good one, too.

This one is a great fabric from Fabric Mart

This fabric is so fun and it feels amazing.  The Briar has been my favorite through the shoulders and I love the neckline.  This one I did eliminate the high - low hem.  Next time I might omit the high front scooped hem and try for straight across hem.

I am pleased with the matching on the side and how the side seam looks with the slight flare at the bottom of the Briar - excuse the goofy pose but wanted to show the side seam.

Now do I have a favorite?  No not really, the McCall's is more of a traditional t-shirt and the Briar has a bit of flare.  I like both options and will keep making more from these two patterns.

Do you have a favorite?  A suggestion for that extra fabric in the McCall's pattern?

  1. I like the Briar best. The McCalls shape is a bit plain.

  2. New T's look great. The little crease above the bust generally indicates that the shoulder angle needs adjust or a FBA or a combination of both. Pin out a little at the shoulder and see if it helps.
