My Fabric Designs - Datura Blouse

My Fabric Designs Cotton Sateen for a Deer and Doe Datura Blouse

Today it was 80 degrees, which means bring out the sleeveless tops. I finished this one last week and I am so happy with the print solid combination.

My print fabric is from My Fabric Designs, specifically a cotton sateen. I love this fabric, it feels incredible, presses and sews beautifully.  So if you are undecided on what fabric you want, then go with the cotton sateen.

I only ordered 1 yard of this fabric and really what was I thinking?  I get on the My Fabric Designs site and I just find so much I want to get, so this time I went with 3 choices, 1 yard each.  My plans were for sleeveless tops.  Great for warm weather and for layering with cardigans.

As I have said before, we are remodeling and many of my patterns are in storage.  I decided to go with the Deer and Doe Datura Blouse, which I loved the first and only time I made it

After looking at the pattern pieces, I decided to do use this cream cotton knit from stash.  It was a perfect match and would be just what I needed for the bodice.

I knew from my last time, I really didn't need the buttonholes to get the blouse on or off.  I just sewed the backs together on the placket and added buttons.

I really brightened this picture so you could see the buttons.

I loved the fabric and was so happy to make this blouse again.  I just need to remember, bright sun means sunglasses and then no squinty  eyes!

Disclosure I received this  fabric as an allowance from My Fabric Designs. I was able to select the fabric and what I wanted to create from the fabric.  The opinions of the fabric are all mine.

  2. Love that pattern. Thank you for the suggestion to sew the placket as the buttons on mine open up once in a while.

  5. I want to know how you do this: the pattern is from France. That means if I order it with a credit card, the card will be put on hold (frozen) as this is an international charge -- so I'd have to approve the sale before I order it? How do you make that transaction?

    1. I purchased the top a few years back and honestly don't remember - I think I used a credit card and it just went through.

  6. Love the top! Did you see view B without the collar? What did you do for the facing?

    1. Melody, thanks so much. I have not made View B and will have to look at the instructions for the facing.
