Leopard Coat in Progress- Vogue 8884

On Sunday, I started my next project, which I mentioned in my Fall sewing plans post - a leopard coat.

The fabric is from Mood Fabrics and it is an Italian stretch canvas

And the pattern is Vogue 8884

I have made this before in a Spring coat

I am using the same construction techniques from the spring coat and it sure goes more quickly when you have this all blogged and I just follow right along!

I am hoping to have this finished before Saturday, which Parent's Day at Meredith's university.

Take a look at all the leopard coats on Pinterest

  1. This will be great! It reminds me of a Kate Spade coat I saw a couple of months ago. Have fun!

  3. Sounds great! I have some leopard print fabric and have been going back and forth between making a coat or a skirt. I'm leaning toward a skirt because coat weather is a very short season here. It's also good to know that our blog posts can be helpful to us with future projects:)

  5. Looking forward to seeing this coat, a very popular item right now! I have some leopard in my stash, but only enough for a top, I think....I'll have to take a look :-)

  9. My sister LOVES animal prints. If she knew you, she'd probably try to talk you out of the coat. I can't wait to see it.

I love it when animal prints are available. My 23 year old daughter has leopard print flats and a leopard print gauzy loop type scarf. I recently saw a fellow bike rider with the same two items worn with a striped tee (mainly a cream background with a thin blackish stripe) and cream pants. I quickly started camera phoning the combination to my daughter. Luckily the other woman didn't turn around! My daughter is perusing all her striped tees now, because it was such a good combination. You are always such a good print queen. Please don't ever stop loving them and sewing with them. We can all figure out plain neutrals, but it takes a champion to get the prints sewn well and standout.
