Megan Nielsen- Ruched Maternity T-shirt

Description:  This top is the ultimate maternity basic and is designed to grow with your growing belly.
The ruched sides mean that it will fit and flatter your baby bump, right up until your baby is born - and unlike most maternity tops, is long enough to always cover your bump.
Sizing: XS to XL
Instructions:  This pattern comes in the nicest packaging.  A beautiful envelope with a velcro closure.  Pattern on heavy paper, great for tracing and a booklet with complete instructions.
I did change the order of construction and some of the instructions;
  • I sewed the shoulder seams
  • Measured the neckline and cut self-binding for the neckline (the pattern has you turn under the neckline and topstitch)
neckline MN1006
  • Gather the front for the ruching
  • Sew the sleeves in the flat (instructions have you sew these in the round)
  • gather the ruching and pin to the back, sew sleeves and side seams in one continuous seam
ruching
Fabric:  ITY knit from Joann’s
Conclusion:  A easy pattern to make with fantastic results.  I liked the design and the ease of construction.  The fabric makes it very trendy.  I think this is the first of many shirts from this pattern.
I was pleased with the side seams:

My pillow taped onto the dressform doesn’t give the best look for the shirt Smile

Wow you are really making a wonderful array of tops (and a dress or two as well if I remember), your daughter will be so excited to grow into these! Very lovely! Shauna

  2. That looks very, very good. Like something you would buy in an upmarket boutique. Your daughter is so lucky to have a mom who can sew and is generous with her time. She will look great for the last 5 months.
I remember my mom sewed me a couple of dresses when I was having my babies. I looked at them and thought, "no way!" They were huge shapeless sacks. But, at the end, they were about all I could get into, and I was Grateful for them. I am sure she would have sewed me something as stylish as the tops you have been making, if she could have, but I appreciate what she was able to do. The thought and the caring means so much. The fact that you have the skills to make the objects themselves high-quality is just icing on the cake.

  3. All of the maternity clothes you have made are so stylish! Erin will really enjoy having unique things to wear throughout her pregnancy. There is a Burda drawstring pants pattern I Ioved and made several times during my pregnancies. I'll have to dig out the number for you, if you don't already have it.

  7. "The invention and use of packaging results in greater sustainability," says a straightforward definition of sustainable packaging. It is helpful, safe, and healthy for individuals and communities at all stages of its life cycle. You can get good packaging from China BOPP film manufacturer.
