Future Sewing

We found out some very exciting news on Monday evening and with the news I will be pulling out this book and using it again after 17 years.

A grandbaby  is on the way!  Erin and Chris are the parents-to-be and the baby will be here Mid-March.

Here is the chalkboard Meredith made them for a picture.  ( I have erased the name for privacy)

Probably time to start subscribing to Ottobre again!

Those of you who sew for babies, please share with me all the good fabric sites, patterns and anything else I might need to purchase!

I am so excited and the end of October we will find out boy or girl.  Then the sewing will really begin.

As my good friend, Lynne, pointed out.  There will be somethings to sew for the mom-to-be.  Oh, the possibilities!

  4. I like Oliver and S patterns, and Farbenmix (although they generally don't have infant patterns). If I were expecting I would want to try out a few of the Megan Nielsen maternity patterns.

  5. Making Baby's Clothes by Rob Merrett is a supercute book that I really wanted to buy, but it will be a few years (I hope) before I have a good reason to. They're not heirloom, but more fun and practical.

  6. congratulations :-)

I like Oliver and S patterns, but mostly because they explain and illustrate things really well. Dana from Dana Made IT does a lot of infant sewing and tutorials, but you are probably far too advanced for this. Can't wait to see what you'll do though

Burdastyle has some maternity patterns that are downloadable. I made the skirt and liked it. I still am looking for a good source for boy fabrics -- sewbaby has some. I love the Ottobre patterns and the Kwik-sew toddler book. I didn't get around to sewing when my son was a baby. I'm trying to this time with my daughter!

Congratulations! I have two kiddos and one on the way, and I will say you can never go wrong with Oliver & S patterns. They fit my kids every time, the details are great, the style is a little vintage and a little modern, and they'll be a breeze for you. Plus, you can get a lot of them digitally now, which is fantastic!

Love your blog, and now I can't wait to see what you do with baby clothes and items!

  26. Congrats Lori! I think being "NANA" is my best role in life. You are going to be sewing the things that I sent you pictures of. I love the pattern that had the monogram. It is by Petite Poche, vintage baby bubble. Look at the line drawing. It is unique in its construction. LOVE the Oliver & S patterns which were the source of some of the others.

  27. Congrats Lori! Remember all of sewing for kids on the Sew4 lists! Too funny now as we start sewing for grandkids! I have identical twin grandsons --- I made the bedding items in John Deere using Kwik Sew. I've made a few other things too, like jammies. I found this place for fabric: http://www.naturesfabrics.com/ (Nature's Fabrics) they have a nice selection of boys prints, service has been excellent. Hope you can share some places to get cute kids fabrics as I've been searching for more of those again !
