McCall's 8001 - Voile Stripe

I have been holding onto this fabric, waiting for the right pattern. That happened this fall when McCall's released their new fall patterns

Take a look at the line drawing and all the options for stripe play or color block.

Here is the back, the yoke and bottom band, plus the arm bands.  For tutorials on shirts, check out this Closet Case blog post

This top runs very, very big.  So take a look at the finished measurements, I went down a size and probably could of went down to an XS.

Here is the fullness

I did cut every piece on a single layer, so I could match all the stripes.

The  voile was so great to sew and press.  I had no issues with any step of the way and I am so happy with the end result....

In October, we have days that are in the mid-70's and this top will work perfectly for these days and it is the perfect fall trend color... mustard

  1. I have that very fabric and am making Mccalls 7889 for my granddaughter who is 16. The fabric is lovely to work with, a pleasure to sew and press. Your shirt looks lovely, and the oversize effect is great with this light fabric.
