Pfaff Creative Icon Decorative Stitches for a Yoke

You might have noticed, I really enjoy using my decorative stitches on my Pfaff Creative Icon.

Here is an example on the yoke for a shirt, McCall's 7284 which I made for Minerva Craft Blog and it will be on that blog May 9th.  So here is a peak of the tunic with the emphasis on the stitches, trim and yoke.

The trim came from Hobby Lobby and it is perfect for the yoke and tunic.

The Pfaff Creative Icon has NINE categories of stitch choices with multiple menus under each category.

Sometimes it takes me longer to select a design than it does to stitch it out.  I do suggest doing a test stitch and experiment with combinations.  Make sure you use appropriate stabilizer, in this case a tearaway,

Here is the stitch I went with

And then I bordered this stitch with the triple stitch on each side.  I always use my presser foot to get the distance between the decorative stitches.  Just pick a spot and be consistent in your spacing.

I love how the decorative stitches are right there for embellishment and add so much dimension to your garment.

So play with your stitches and see what you can create.

  1. I can well understand why one gets lost searching for designs. It's like spending time searching thru the internet.

  2. I don't have an embroidery machine. But my Viking has lots of beautiful built in stitches. I've used them to quilt bags and table runners. Now I am using them more for hems and "trim". They are so pretty, its a shame not to use them. I have a denim jacket that I used as a stitch sampler, stitching out every stitch I have down the back.
