Jasper Sweater

Jasper Sweater made in a lightweight sweatshirt knit

What makes you think about a garment you made and really like to wear?  For me, it is wearing the garment again.  The Jasper Sweater is one that I just didn't wear enough right after I made the first one.

Recently, hubby and I went away for a weekend, mostly for work but it was fun to get away.  I have gotten so much better about packing lightly and put in my first Jasper Sweater to wear home.  I have been trying to sew some tops that I will everyday.  I love the sew blazers, jackets, jeans and the like but sometimes I just need some tops to wear everyday.

The fabric from this one came Hancock's  just before they closed down.  It is a lightweight (very) sweatshirt and I don't love it.  Plus it is a bit itchy!   The fabric from my first one is a much better match for the pattern, a beautiful french terry from Style Maker Fabrics.  I like the weight of it for the Jasper so much better.

I did try to do a stripe for the welt pockets and the tab and put this on IG for button suggestions.

Most voted for black or brown or a bigger button.  I decided to go with the same fabric and a black button.  The stripe just made me think of Santa!

Much better I do believe.

Junior had to be in the photo, he seemed to be absent lately

So if you are making this great pattern, make sure the fabric has some substance to it for best results.

  1. You look really pretty in that color. It looks great on you even if you don't like the way it feels.

  2. It looks great. I hope it loses the itchiness after a few washes.
