Flowers - 2016

It is time to share my flowers with you again.  I have to say it is the prettiest yet and I probably say that every year!

Rain, a very important factor has been plentiful since the last week of June and very appreciated.

I have watered one time all summer and I don't miss dragging that hose around the yard.  I know I have just jinxed myself, all of August I will be dragging the hose!
The above picture is daylilies, coneflowers, phlox, roses.  All great perennials for Missouri

This picture is the same long bed just from the opposite side.  You might notice orange flags in my flowers.  Well, I marked all my daylilies to seperate this fall.  I wrote on the flag the color and the height so when I transplanted I knew where I wanted them in my yard.  I have many tall yellow ones to share with family.

Several more from the same bed.

This one is the bed that is closest to the house, the fountain a Mother's Day present two years ago.  I love it and the sound it adds to the outdoors.

As you walk out my back door, my largest perennial garden is shaped like a C.  Starts at the house, curves around the side yard and then meets up with the pool fence and runs quite a long way.

I also have two more large beds by the road, flanking each side of the driveway.  Another long berm of roses and ornamental grasses, this one located at the edge of the yard.  It is a separation from the yard and the machine shed. Then one final bed under two big trees, full of daylilies, plenty of light for them and it is the only thing I have been able to grow in that area.

Thanks for taking a look, the flowers are so pretty I just had to share.

  2. So pretty! It's nice to see the same flowers we grow here on the other side of the pond. My flowers are late, it's been cold and extremly wet so far. But you're right, there's the benefit of not having to drag hoses!

  8. Gorgeous flowers and I'll bet it smells wonderful too. We also are having plentiful rain this summer and great flowers. Interesting that my lilies are done but flocks have not bloomed yet and you have both blooming at the same time.

    1. Thanks, Jane, it has been a great summer for flowers. I will have to add thinning the garden phlox to my list. That plant wants to take over if not tamed.
