Vogue 8926 Linen Jacket and Renfrew Top

Linen and warmer temperatures just go together, right?  When I spotted this Rag and Bone Linen on Mood Fabrics site, I knew I had to have it.  The fabric is sold by the panel and I ordered 2 panels which was just enough to squeeze out this jacket.     Now what to make with this fabulous linen?  I found some ideas on Pinterest, mainly unstructured tops with some fun play on the stripes.  That seemed like a good idea to start but I wasn't quite sure.  Next step was to look through my patterns and I found  Vogue 8926 and knew I had found a winner.

I did have enough fabric to match the stripes across the front but the sleeves had to be cut on the crosswise grain.  I loved how the stripes look on the sleeves and just are fun down the back Mood Fabrics' stripe linen made into a great Vogue 8926 jacket- back and sleeve view

My plans were to include the ties on the jacket but quite frankly I couldn't stand how the jacket looked tied.  As I was sewing at midnight on Saturday night, I started playing with ways to wear this jacket.  The best solution was to eliminate the ties, the jacket made in the linen had the perfect drape for this look

.

I thought about seam finishing and went with a  flat felled seams to one side, which I did on the center back seam and it looks very nice.

This one seam was challenging to say the least, remember the fabric is linen and boy does linen like to ravel.  I decided to use my serger to finish the seams.  After changing my seam finish, the jacket was quick to make.  The hardest thing was matching the stripes at the back and side seams and front facings.

Now a few more pictures of the jacket , which I can see being worn with jeans as I am today or as a topper for a dress.   Mood Fabrics' stripe linen made into a great Vogue 8926 jacket -front view of drape

I have several tops that will look great with this linen jacket but this Mood Fabrics' rayon jersey knit  was perfect for a casual look.

I went with Sewaholic's Renfrew top, one of my favorites and this navy and white stripe one is still worn so much.  I always need new tops for summer and the Renfrew looks great and is quick to sew Renfrew shirt made with Mood Fabrics' rayon jersey Renfrew shirt made with Mood Fabrics' rayon jersey

Sewing, it just is my passion and so much of it I like.  The purchasing of fabric, selecting pattern, actual sewing is amazing but I also love taking a pattern and making it my own Vogue 8926 was the starting point of my project but making it my own, was starting with that pattern and lovely linen.  From that starting point, sewing and creativity lets you turn that pattern into a garment that suits your body style and you lifestyle.  This is something I never will get tired of.  What about you, what is your favorite part when sewing a new garment? 10. This is a beautiful combination. The linen jacket is really gorgeous! My favorite part has to be matching fabric to pattern. I love fabrics and patterns equally and could spend hours daydreaming about what a fabric can become.

I've seen the Renfrew Pattern around for awhile, and now just getting around to buying the pattern, but it appears they are sold out at the moment. Certainly seems like a pattern to have on hand :)

  14. This collection is so amazing! I like to wear linen big shirt because it allows me to tuck in, tie up and its look classic with any bottom. The most important reason is I feel really comfortable.

  16. HOW HACKER STEVE HELPED TO RECOVER MY LOST CRYPTO
I lost a lot of money in a month ago when I saw the opportunity to invest in cryptocurrency; and this is why I suggest to everyone out there to seek more knowledge before investing in cryptocurrency as there are people out there who seize this opportunity to defraud victims of their hard-earned money through cryptocurrency investment. I was lucky enough to do my research and found out I have been coined $892,000 worth of Bitcoin & Ethereum after falling victim. It was not long after I discovered the services of hackersteve911, who took some information from me to investigate and recover all the money that I lost in this scam. I’m truly grateful for the services of hackersteve911, the best cryptocurrency recovery out there.
