Vogue 8909 - Black Denim Ponte

I am in a spot between sewing for winter and sewing for spirng.  I thought Vogue 8909 would be a good transition  piece even when snow is still in the ground.  The fabric is a black denim ponte from Emma One Sock and I knew this was just the fabric for this pattern.

I made this Vogue Pattern last spring and they are some of my favorites, I probably wore them way too much for my daughters' taste  but they are so cute, fun and comfy.
On this pair, I shortened the crotch length by 1/2" and this adjustment feels perfect.  It is amazing what a small adjustment will do. I left off the drawstring for this pair.  I do love the look of the front faux zipper with the bartacks

Hubby took these pictures and he asked after three photos, "do I need to get all the pants?"  Well, yes, that is what I made!!!  After a couple more pictures, the battery went dead.  I didn't want to head back to the cold and he did a good job with the photos.  The  darker color is hard to photograph but here is the  line drawing

I used the ponte for the pockets but it might be a bit too heavy.  If you are using ponte this might be something to consider.  I lightened this one up quite a bit so you  see the details but there are still hard on this fabric.

I used 1/4" elastic for the cuffs, it was all I had at home and it worked out fine.  The fabric is 4-way stretch rayon ponte in Black denim but is currently sold out. She did get more in for my order, maybe again?  It is great fabric.

I can't wait to find a cute pair of sandals to wear with these pants and no sweater!

Looking at these pictures, I must have been very chilly - hands in the pockets for every picture.

    1. Thanks, Beth, I love this fun style. On the too old, I have been reworking my thought process on this one. As I travel around there are woman older than me wearing things I thought I was too old to wear. Well, they look amazing in the trendy clothes and just wear them a bit different than a 20 or 30- something. I am taking that mind set now. You are only as old as you feel!

  2. These look like such cozy pants, and I love how you've dressed them up with these cute flats. Denim ponte? You've intrigued me over how this might feel. I will order a swatch. EOS denim's quality is excellent, so I'm sure that this is gorgeous fabric.

    1. thanks, Mary Ellen, I use to start with a pattern but never had much luck finding fabric that I wanted. Now I buy the fabric 2 to 3 yards and then find a pattern. I seem to have better luck that way.

  10. LOL, I have similar issues with my photographer Lori! But, we mustn't complain!

These comfy pants (I can't say sweat pants, because they are oh so much more chic than that!) are really, really nice! The details bring them up to a classic, but still casual look. And the coral top is an absolutely gorgeous go-with! Now, hurry up spring!!!

    1. thanks, Sue, I know these really are glorified track/sweat pants but I love them. I really think it is the fly detail that helps to step them up a notch.
