Butterick 5497 In Silk Jersey

I have made this twice before each for Erin - here in navy and in a print here.

Well, it is my turn, right?

I went with this Mood Fabircs' Silk Jersey, which was on special recently.  Love those sales!

I made a couple of changes, I cut the lower section a bit bigger, the silk jersey is thin and I did not want the jersey clinging to my mid-section!

I did add the elastic to the sleeves and the waistline as the pattern instructed.  There is only one problem with the elastic in the sleeves.  The elastic weighs down the sleeves, thus pulling down my neckline.  I might remove the elastic but will give it a couple of wearings to determine this.

The other change is the back, I stitched up the back opening up just a bit.

I am loving the feel of this silk jersey and it makes any outfit a bit more dressy.  It also makes you do silly poses!

After 22 days of Me Made May, I realized I needed a few more tops.  Specifically tops I can wear on an everyday basis.

  4. even though you said you need more tops I think you have made some great tops. I agree with you, the thing I reach for most days are tops and a pair of jeans. Very cute top and I bet the fabric is luscious.
