Vogue 8831- Take Two

I tried this once before but it was too big, check it out here.  After Lynne’s comment “hope to make it with a ponte knit for a tunic!”  It got me thinking and digging in my closet, I did have a ponte knit.
The ponte worked beautifully and my hubby has told me several times my top looks really good.
Pictures are inside today, we have snow and wind gusts up to 45 mph.

I designed this bag during the late summer and early fall, it is called

  Daisy – A Messenger Bag. 

Notice the garden theme?

Daisy is a cross-body horizontal style bag with a large outside pocket and decorative front flap

A friend helps me out and puts the pattern in clear, concise form with great graphics.  She does with in her spare time, around being a college softball coach, teaching at the college and running her own painted furniture business.  I really appreciate her helping me.
She sent me the pattern on Friday and I made “Daisy” following the instructions and diagrams.  I think it is good to go, so in a few days, I will be listing this pattern in my etsy shop.
Take a look at the front, the flap has a pocket which is not only decorative but functional, too.


The back has several pockets:

The taller pocket runs the length of the back of the purse. The shorter pocket is divided in half.  So three pockets in the back of the purse for storage.
Daisy is large enough to fit a notebooks and books or the perfect size to carry as your purse.  A very functional book bag.

Seven things about myself:

1.  My cousin set my husband and me up on a date.  First date we really didn't get along that well, happy we went out on a second date a few months later.

2. I continue to scrapbook, more out of guilt than enjoyment.  I don’t want the twins not to have all those scrapbooks their older 2 sisters have.

3.  In my third pregnancy, at about 5-1/2 months,  I was having some issues and my ob/gyn sent me for an ultrasound.  Hubby could not get away from work, so I went on my own.  Well, after a few minutes, the technician said you are having twins.  Relieved nothing was wrong but in a bit of a shock, I left the office and proceeded to back into someone in the parking lot!

4.  The twins were 2-1/2 years old and attending Sunday School.  While they were waiting for me to pick them up they  told their Sunday School teachers, “My mom is getting brown “burban”, when you have lots of kids (I have 4), you need brown “burban”!  I was horrified and quickly translated “we are getting a brown SUBURBAN, we have lots of kids and need a SUBURBAN!”

5. I love chocolate – Little Debbie Cosmic Brownies are a favorite.

6. On my dad’s side of the family, I was the only girl out of seven grandchildren.  Now the next generation has changed the odds, 19 girls and 3 boys. I told my cousins and my brother, that is my revenge for them picking on me all those years.

7.  My favorite TV show is NCIS, thank goodness for DVRs so I don’t have to miss Leroy Jethro Gibbs!

Happy 18th Birthday!

It seems like only yesterday, they were 5 years old and I was smocking them cute little jumpers.  Today they are 18, still beautiful and sweet but no cute smocked jumpers!

Pillowcases

In our town, a couple of women organize a community project.  The project gives a handmade pillowcase and a new pillow to members of our town who might need such an item.  My daughter, Meredith wanted to sew some of these and donate to this project.
The two of us spent a couple hours in the sewing room and completed 17 pillowcases.
Not only was it fun to spend this time with Meredith, it was fun to know we are helping others.
