Indie Stitch Sewing Kit - Verbena Dress

I am trying something different, a monthly subscription box.   Lindsey of Inside the Hem had a story on this subscription box, so I signed up.

This is from IndieStitch  and the box comes with everything you need.

This box has:

  • pdf pattern download coupon code
  • 2 large format prints of pattern pieces
  • 3-3.5 yards of brushed polyester fabric
  • 2 yards of 3/8 inch elastic
  • 2 ball point sewing machine needles size 75/11
  • coordinating thread
  • gold metal thread snips
  • hem gauge magnet
  • It's Sew Emma Cleaning Kit
  • yummy treat

This pattern was Blank Slate Patterns Verbena Dress and it has a top option, with three sleeve options and a v-neck or scoop neck option..

I looked at this hashtag on Instagram and I found the sleeves seemed very close fitting.  I didn't want to have a tight sleeve, so I did a full bicep adjustment.  The pattern does have instructions for this adjustment and several others.  My other adjustment is my usual one lengthened the bodice by one inch.  The finished measurements had me at a Medium but I cut between a medium and large.  Just to give me a bit of room, with the fabric, I knew it would be clingy.

This pattern goes together so quickly and since I didn't make the dress, I had enough fabric to make another top.  One of my daughters saw the fabric on my cutting table, so I asked if she wanted one and she said yes.

How I feel about this subscription box?  I enjoyed it and the main reason is this is a way for me to try something different.  I would not have purchased this pattern on my own.  It is very slim fitting and not a style I gravitate toward.  I do really like this top and trying new things is a good thing.

This box arrived in April and I am happy I completed it in April.  I am going to try to get the garment sewn up the same month it arrives.
