Nikko Tops and Blackwood Cardigan - Style Maker Fabrics

I purchased three beautiful rib knits from Style Maker fabrics for sleeveless Nikko Tops and I love them.  The Nikko is such a great layering piece

I am wearing Wine here

I am wearing Cinnamon here

I am wearing the Navy rib knit

There is three other colors..... Camel  and Teal  and Sand

As I mentioned I used True Bias Nikko Top  which I have made several times before.

This top takes about 1 yard of fabric and really goes together quickly.  I like the sleeveless version, fits better under some of my jackets and sweaters.  This rib knit from Style Maker Fabrics is perfect for this pattern, stretch is just right and perfect recovery.

I bought 1.5 yards of fabrics so with a half a yard of each one left, I wanted to make something.  Well, I thought I might be able to get a Blackwood Cardigan, shorter version.  I have made the Blackwood several times, too.

I was able to get it out, just barely.  I had to piece the bottom band and the front band, which was fine.

Let's look at the cardigan with the different color Nikkos.... Wine

With Navy Nikko

With the cinnamon,....

I did pull the band a bit on my right side, you can see the puckers a bit.  Oh, it will be okay.  Here you can see the front band pieced at the shoulder seams and then the bottom band pieced at side seams

I used about every piece of these three rib knits, that was a good thing.  I am happy how this turned out and I like each of the Nikko tops under the cardigan.

I have been going to the gym faithfully, walking 3 miles and lifting weights.  I had to show off my arms!  LOL

  1. Thank you for bringing this pattern to my attention! I've been looking for a good plain basic layering knit top just like this. I tried the TB Sutton and loved it, so I'm sure I'll like this one as well. Yours all are perfection!

  2. Very impressive using every last scrap to squeek out the cardigan. AND it looks great too. I thought I would like one Nikko color with the cardi better but nope, I like them all.

  3. It’s a great combination of sewing patterns and colors. I have been wanting to do both patterns as a set for awhile now, and your color blocking inspires me to take it up a notch! Just lovely and a great scrapbuster, too. Thanks too for introducing me to Stylemaker Fabrics. I love their high quality and selection. Lastly, from one gym rat to another, keep it up! You look great!

  5. What a great idea for the Blackwood pattern! Like others, I was sure I'd prefer one color over another for the Nikko tops with the cardi, but I LOVE them all. I'm going to have to check out the Nikko pattern and Style Maker fabrics. Oh, and awesome arms :)
