I have been loving the cold shoulder trend but have been very slow to take up the off- the-shoulder trend. Finally, I did and I have to say, I am liking it!
I found this fabric at Joann's on sale - I can't remember if it was 60% or 75% off. When I bought it knew that this was the fabric from McCall's 7543. I am loving the combination and the border print
I made mine a bit longer than the View B on the pattern envelope, I do think I went maybe a bit too long but it is just fine.
Do you recognize the ties? I used the sleeves from this pattern on my gingham blouse
You can see on the back arm in the above photo, I did not have enough fabric to cut one of the sleeve panels from the stripe fabric only. I did have to cut into the border a bit to get all my pieces cut out. It did help that this was only the back sleeve pattern piece on one side.
The top goes together quickly for the most part, hemming the ties takes the longest for me. Using the border print makes it quicker, no hemming the bottom of the top.
This style was one I was on the fence about but love it so much, I am happy I tried this style. I might be looking at more patterns with this style. We still have more than half the summer to go.
I just had to take one with some of my flowers, the rose bushes have been eaten by Japanese beetles. Right now the rest of the garden is not being touched by the beetles.
What about you, have you tried a trend that you didn't think was you? Did it pass or fail?
I like the longer length of your blouse and great use of the border print.
