I am still really enjoying the year of the sleeve! This time a Burda pattern, which I don't sew very often but should look at them more often
This pattern is Burda 6458 and my fabric is this luscious voile -
I added 1" to the sleeves and 1 inch to the body. I am going to shorten the top by 2" after wearing this top once. It is just a bit too long and I have trouble getting the partial front tuck just right!
The voile is a bit sheer but not as sheer as some other voile fabrics I have used. It did sew beautifully and I am wanting to make all things wine and maroon this season. Well, throw some pumpkin color in, too.
The pattern calls for an elastic casing at the sleeve cuff and the sleeve. I tried on the top and found this unnecessary. The pattern envelope shows the sleeves at mid-forearm but with winter coming on I wanted long sleeves, another inch might be good for a true a the wrist bone long sleeve
The top is a round neck and just slips right over your head, a simple facing for the neckline. I know some sewists don't care for a facing but in this instance with the lighter weight fabric I don't mind it. The facing calls for interfacing but I did not want white interfacing to show through, so I used two layers of the voile. This worked very nicely.
A couple more pictures of the sleeves, thank you wind.
Another fun blouse and I keep thinking about wearing it with my velvet bomber jacket
Well, actually, I should see if the colors go together! What do you think?.

What a pretty blouse!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love that fabric. The color looks great on you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I am loving this color, too.
DeleteBeautiful blouse. I think it will go nicely with your velvet jacket.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tomasa, debating on keeping the ties. They just kind of hang there, then flap around I talk and my hands get going!
DeleteI really liked that outfit! Great Work.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful blouse! I was just looking for something like this. Are the sleeves comfortable in your shoulders? I drafted a pattern, but can't seem to make it fit comfortably! It pulls on my shoulders when I stretch the arms forward. It would be great to know how it is in this pattern, when you have a second. Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I'm "Unknown" now :) I'm Laura :)
