I posted on Instagram that I was making this pattern and
Amy commented, "You are going to love it!"
Oh, my she was so right!
A few weeks ago I was contacted by The Confident Stitch about working together and Kate sent me fabric and pattern. The pattern is Angela Wolf's The Ruched-T and I used this gorgeous
If coral isn't your color, check out all these other colors
One thing about this pattern, it has the most thorough instructions. In fact the instructions are a spiral bound booklet. Angela has included lots of tips and information plus great finished measurements. Also, you can go to Angela's website for helpful videos, including ruching.
I made a large at the bust and medium at the waist and hips. This is a quick sew project with the ruching taking the most time. I did change the ruching a bit and started it just at the waist to 2" from the hemline. The pattern does indicate starting at the bust.
This pattern fits me so nicely and I love the neckline, it is the perfect depth.
I did want to try the twisted collar but the rayon lycra is a light weight knit and the pattern calls for light to medium stretch knits (with 3% to 8% spandex). I feel the medium weight knit would yield to a better twisted collar.
The pattern indicates to topstitch or coverstitch the shoulder seam. I really like how this looks.
This pattern has lots of possibilities - ruching on one side, two sides or no sides. Then sleeve length with ruching options and several collar sizes with twist or no twist. In other words, endless possibilities!
The rayon-lycra stitched beautifully and was a dream to sew. I love the color and it is perfect for summer and into fall with some layers. Look I am ready for fall!
If you remember my embroidered top, I stated I can't leave extra fabric unsewn. I had just enough to make Meredith a top, Hot Patterns Blouse Back top. This worked nicely the fabric I had left, I just added some stash stripe and made her a cute top.
Disclosure - I was provided the pattern and fabric from The Confident Stitch but the opinions of both are all mine.
I love the colour and fit of this top on you Lori. Such neat stitching around the neckline too.
ReplyDeleteLoving the mixed media tee you made for Meredith too
