Butterick 6378

Butterick 6378 blouse sewn in a fabulous Indiesew rayon challis

I am still sewing for Kaitlyn and having so much fun.  This time it is a beautiful blouse.
Butterick 6378 was a pattern Kaitlyn picked out for this incredible fabric, Indiesew Rayon Challis.  The fabric is the softest rayon challis I have felt and Kaitlyn loves it.

A week ago, I went to her house and we took pictures of the Lou Box Tops and the denim tencel dress and this blouse.  I texted her that night and said, "I can tell by your smile in the pictures which one is your favorite."  She texted back the blouse with the tie front.  I was right!

I went with View D but a straight hem, added an inch to her sleeves and went with a size 10.

The Butterick instructions are great for the neckline but I made one change.  The instructions have you go back and hand sew the opening close where the ties are on the neck binding.  Before attaching the neck binding, I sewed this close.

Here is Butterick's instructions, just above the Collar B.

Kaitlyn and I work together a couple of days a week and I keep a tape measure in my bag, so I measured her arm for the elastic.  It is a bit loose but perfect when she pushes up her sleeves

I am thrilled with this top and have plans for one myself, it just looks so good from the front and the back

One thing for sure, it is easy to sew for Kaitlyn since Meredith is still at home, they are so similar in size, Meredith is just a bit taller.  Here they are, just over a year ago, Kaitlyn's wedding.

One last look at her smile and great looking blouse

  1. uch a pretty neckline, and that's a great tip for the wrist elastic. I try and keep tape measures in every bag I own too and in a couple other places because you never know when you'll need it!

  4. So pretty - both the fabric and pattern ( and Kaitlyn) ! In my experience slightly looser elasticated sleeves are more comfortable anyway.

    1. Thanks, Janine, I agree on the looser sleeves, plus when she pushes them up they won't be too tight.
