5. A statement Skirt for Fall
this is what Glamour says about that trend
This year, pick up a wrap, tiered, or asymmetrical skirt. Long or short, the ready-styled silhouette makes it easy to mix with a simple T-shirt or blouse

6. Something Ruffled
And here is what they say about that trend
Ruffles are the epitome of feminine charm, but you don't want to look like you're wearing a bad '80s prom dress. In the new year, wear ruffles with simple hemlines, understated peplums, and tiny accenting trims. Don't go for anything too structured or stiff with this trend—it's all about movement.

I am going to focus on tops/blouses for this but you can include dresses, skirts and other garments for this trend.

Glamour says
Want a jacket that will take you from morning to night? We suggest the tuxedo blazer. Though blazers are always a wardrobe staple, there's something about a tuxedo style that makes us stand up a little straighter, even when paired with slouchy jeans.

Glamour Says
Classic camel continues to be a must-have neutral when it comes to outerwear. More exciting than basic black, this hue goes with every pattern and color under the sun—definitely worth the investment.

10. A long vest
Glamour says
Call it a long vest, call it a gilet, call it a sleeveless coat—whatever you call it, the menswear-inspired fall outerwear piece is the ideal piece to add to your work wardrobe for transitioning to fall and well into the season (especially in that fickle early fall weather, when it's not quite hot, not sweater weather yet, but you want to step it up and wear something in-season and rock some fall fashion trends!). It's polished enough to take you into an important meeting at work and cool enough to wear over a summer dress for after-work cocktails.

I really tried to give a wide variety of patterns for each trend. As always let me know what I missed and I will add it.
anyone have pull with Simplicity? They need to change their website a bit. My suggestions:
- tops and blouses in one category, vests and jackets in another
- larger thumbnails in each category
- the ability to right click when you are on a pattern page and copy image URL, I have to copy URL from category page and the quality isn't the best when resizing. Can someone tell me how I can get the image on a pattern page another way? I really don't want to save to my computer.
Thanks. You've given me lots of good ideas. I agree with your comments about Simplicity. The website is a lot better than it was a few years ago. Now, I'm off to dream about my statement skirt while I do my chores.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lori! What a great post! I think I have just the right pattern for a classic "statement skirt". Some fabulous inspiration here!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful compilation. Thanks for your time.
ReplyDeleteNice examples! Certainly gave me some great ideas!
ReplyDeleteThese are great ideas and pattern match ups! I too have the same problem pulling from the Simplicity. I save them to my desktop....it's the only way I've had success. I'm with you, I'd love to find a better way.
ReplyDeleteYou killed two birds with one stone with that last one ~ ruffles AND vest :-) cute!
ReplyDeletehappy sewing ~ Tracy
I have the Leanne Marshall Simplicity pattern on my sewing list for a new coat. I Wanted something different and this pattern fit the bill.
