Happy 15th Birthday!

My twins are 15 today and I am taking them to get their driver's permit. They are so excited and thrilled. Me? It seems like yesterday they were born, 5-1/2 weeks early, 4 pounds and beautiful. We were so blessed, they stayed in the hospital 4 days and we were able to bring them home.

I made those coats they are wearing. Ordered two kits from the Australian Smocking magazine, and it was quite the splurge. I have to say these might be my most favorite garments ever made, so well worth the cost. Don't they look darling? Kaitlyn is on the left and Meredith is on the right.

  3. Doesn't time trick you with its speed? The girls are precious in this photo, but also in the more recent ones you have shared. Happy Birthday to you too--my DMIL always bought herself a small gift for her children's birthdays!

  4. Good job Mom and Dad!

And to Meredith and Kaitlyn, Happy Birthday a day late. Fifteen is a wonderful age. I think that was my daughter's favorite year.I hope it is yours as well. I remember enjoying my own fifteenth year quite a lot. Childhood is close enough still that you remember it's pleasures but you have the power and skills to really build your adult skills now. Your fifteenth year has a magical quality to it that you can always hold onto if you want to.

And when you're building your adult skills, please have pity on your parents when they get nervous on the road. Just tell them to keep their eyes shut like you do, when you drive around the corners on those steep mountain roads:~)

And also if you can keep from telling them "Don't worry" when they do. It helps. We do get to worry. It's our God-given right as parents!

    Love and happy 15.

  5. Oh, precious photo. I made that coat too! But I only had to do it for a singleton. Happy birthday to your daughters, and safe driving.

  6. Those are adorable coats! Tell your girls that if they lived in New York state they'd have to wait another year to get their permits. Enjoy your beginning drivers!

  12. Congratulations - and thanks for showing that great picture again!

From now on, the car is yours when the tank is empty, and it's your husband's when it is time for a service check. :-)
