Started the New Year with some sewing. A new top for me and my 12 yo dd started a quilt from a book she received for Christmas
Sew Hip. She received some fat quarters with the book but we had to make a quick run to Wal-Mart for additional fabric. The nearest town has 3 quilt stores but all were closed today, I really don't like shopping Wal-Mart but she really wanted to start this quilt today. I spent way over an hour cutting out the fabric but she has 3 blocks done and is doing a beautiful job. I am biased but she has a great eye for color. You can catch a glimpse of the
quilt from the book on the RJR website
Here is my new top, Christine Jonson's Wrap top again, fabric is RPL from Joann's and I have had this thing cut out for a month now.
Also today is a birthday here, 17 years ago my second daughter was born.
Happy New Year and Happy Birthday to my wonderful girl.
Beautiful top! I also love the looks of that quilt - I can't wait to see how it turns out. That series of books is supposed to be very inspiring for young sewers - I'll have to remember it for my daughter this summer!
ReplyDeleteBTW, Happy Birthday to your daughter!
Love the line of the new top. Bet it looks great on.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your daughter on her constructing her new quilt. How exciting.
Happy Birthday to the 17-yr-old. Where does the time go??
