Ginger Jeans with Embellished Pockets

The Ginger Jeans by Closet Case have been a frequent sewn garment since their release.  This time I wanted to do something different to the back pockets, some embellishment with my Pfaff Creative Icon

Embroidered jeans are showing up in spring fashion  and I am jumping on that trend.  These jeans have been my project for a week and I am so pleased on how they turned out.  So be warned this post is photo overload!

Ginger Jeans and Bellevue Top

Ginger jeans and Bellevue shirt in rayon jersey

Do you have a project that seems to be in the works forever?  Well, my Ginger Jeans have been that project.  I think they have been cut out for at least 6 months.  Now I can say hurrah, they are done!

Ginger Jeans and Butterick 6175

Mood Fabrics' white denim for Ginger jeans and quilted knit for Butterick 6175

No white after Labor Day, how many times have we heard this?  Well, I am not following that ancient rule.
 For two reasons....
 1.  I love white jeans, they go with anything and can go from casual to dressy with a few changes
 2.  I have had this fabric since June and didn't get my white jeans made!

Ginger Jeans in Denim

Making your own jeans can be intimidating but I went for it using a Mood Fabrics' Theory Denim (sold out but here are many more to pick from - Mood Fabrics' Denim) and the Ginger Jeans by Closet Case Patterns, which is named for Mood Sewing Network's own Ginger Makes

Mood Fabrics' stretch denim using Ginger Jeans pattern

This denim pair is my third pair of pants from this pattern.  The first from a stretch twill from Mood Fabrics and the second from Mood Fabrics' black suede cotton.  Each time I changed a couple things on the pattern and this denim pair I feel is a good fit. One change was for the baggy seat, using this recommended alteration at Thread's Magazine and it really worked, no more baggy seat

Ginger Jeans- Second pair in Black

I finished my second pair of Ginger Jeans this weekend and wore them to a Christmas with friends.  I love this pair, too.

Lots of wrinkles in this pictures, but I think it is the hands in my pockets, making the pants pull across the front.

The fabric is from Mood - a sueded cotton, which has just a bit of spandex.

For this pair,

Ginger Jeans for Me

I purchased Closet Case' Ginger Jeans right after it was released.

Finally last week I had time to make these jeans, using some Theory stretch twill from Mood Fabrics (sold out now).

I am so happy with the fit of these jeans, especially for the first time out.

The good and the bad today.
