Another Sew Expo garment on the blog today, the Morgan Jeans in some fabulous denim!
Michelle of Style Maker Fabrics did it again with a fabulous fabric, this Faux Distressed Denim and it is so fun. The description is a "distressed" denim area ranges from 1/8" to 3/4" and there is denim behind each distressed piece, this is not a stretch denim, 100% cotton. It also is available in a darker denim.
The pattern is Closet Case Morgan Jeans, which I have made before in this white denim. I love making jeans, they really come together quicker than you think. Especially if you sew in small chunks of time, you will have a finished pair of jeans before you know it.
One thing I did have to do in certain places was to baste down the distressed area at the seams. For the back pockets and the coin pocket, I turned the wrong side to the outside, gave it some interest.
You can see the coin pocket a bit in this photo and the fly stitching, which I added a triangle.
I really like this denim, you get the distressed look without the holes! LOL. I did use the jean button and my Pfaff did a beautiful job on the buttonhole.
Michelle styled these jeans with the button shirt from the previous post, it sure looked cute!
One last detail is the inside at the bottom of the leg, I covered the seam allowance with that cute blue gingham, makes a nice detail when you roll the jeans.
again thanks, Michelle, thanks for opportunity, I love to sew for Expo.
Your posts are always so very welcome, the sewing you do is incredible. I admire your talent and there is the added bonus of seeing the love on your friend's face. He does love his Mum!
ReplyDeleteHis name is Junior and he is always following me around, he is a good dog. Thanks so much.
DeleteDid you spill paint on your brand new jeans? Just kidding, they're really cute. I love the gingham accent at the bottom. Nice Job!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I like to cover the seam for when I cuff the jeans and this is a good solution. Thanks so much and LOL on paint spill.
