Lace Top- McCall's 6036

Another top from Meredith using some extra fabric from a previous garment, Lace from Paige's dress

Once again, I used McCall's 6036 for this top.  I added some length to it, plus seam allowances for a center back seam.  This pattern is for knits, so I also added some width to all the pattern pieces.

The lining for this lone is a thin knit which was almost the same color as the lace.

This was quick to make and on the back I put an exposed zipper
I didn't get the lace lined up the best on this back - oops!

Another garment Meredith will enjoy wearing and  a great way to use up the last bit of this fabulous lace from Mood Fabrics

Nice top. That color is relaxing and the back zipper is a nice touch.

  3. Beautiful color! Your lace is lined up far better than most ready to wear garments...don't even get me started on that subject. LOL

  4. Fabulous! She is a lucky girl to have you sewing for her. Is the zipper a separating zipper? You didn't show the bottom of the back of the shirt.
I'm really loving following you on the Super Online Sewing Match!

    1. Thank you, Linda, The bottom was bunched up in the photo and looked not so good, so I cropped it out. The zipper does separate but I clipped that off after hemming. the SOSM is fun to watch, talented ladies.

  5. It's nice to get multiple uses from a pattern, isn't it? This top is really lovely; I especially like the scooped (but still modest) neckline. And the surprise exposed zipper -- very nice! Thanks for sharing this project. That reminds me; I have to go see what's happening with SOSM; loved your reverse applique bag.

I love the color and fabric in this lacy, minty top you made Meredity - also the exposed zipper. I've got a woven hoodie I want to make from a knit pattern and seeing that you used a knit pattern with a woeven, makes me believe it's going to go OK. I'm also going to make a woven version first to test the pattern as well as making a muslin - so it will probably work. Oh.... and I plan to quilt batting to the lining too. Is it just me, or does everybody else add just enough sewing fuss to make trouble?

    1. Thanks Your idea sounds like a good one. You might have to size down on using the knit. Oh, I think adding fuss to sewing is like the book, If you give a Mouse a cookie!
